OH MY GOD run in a sports bra. Hopefully posting my weight on the interwebs will give me the push that I need.

Emily

LOL, you just have to find the right bra! They make some super strong two layer, I swear as strong as titanium, sports bras that got me moving even when I was a DD! I will always laugh at what the sports stores consider a "bra".

OK, I am in. Yes I have started before, but what choose do I have but to start again. I have to make choices everyday. I consider my prior attempts to be practice runs.
I am using a bodybugg, so I can see that I didn't workout as hard as I thought I was and I was eating more than I thought I was.

I am starting at 169, and at a muscular 5'1" a healthy weight for me is 140. I blew up to 200 after staying home with kids and dropped 25#s easily when I stopped the junk food. I have been stuck at around 170 for a few years.

My goal for April is 165 - one pound per week.

MM

Looking forward to how this "Bodybugg" works for you. Sounds interesting, but then jumping out of a perfectly good airplane sounds interesting.

I have a body bugg sitting on the shelf...if anyone is interested in it make me an offer. I have the bugg, and the watch portion of it. You would have to do the subscription.

Tim,
Don't know how old that pic is, but it looks like you know how to eat and work out - it's just getting to it.

Sailing - Thanks for the welcome back - the bodybugg just gives me info. I found I burned less cal than I thought, and ate more than I thought. I'm just really focused on upping my cals burned and making sure I have a cal deficits everyday.

There are some good reasonable goals being made here. I can't wait to move my body with 35#s less fat. Think how strong we'll feel. I'm shooting for a great tri season!

Can I jump in too? Albeit a bit late, I did weigh myself on 4/1 and was 134.8 lbs. with 25.2% BF. My goal for April is 8 pounds - 2/week I think its aggressive but doable. Need to get my weight down before my training increases too much. I've trained for these distances before (IM) but was 20 - 25 pounds less than where I am now. Yikes. That seems tough. But one step at a time, right?

So April goal is 2 lb/week; 8 lb/total; 126.8 on the scale.

Musclemomma, it's from 2001.  In that picture I was 165 lbs.  It was six months after I had started my first program at 245 lbs.  I learned a TON in that period of time.   It's odd how fast it comes on, and how hard it is to get it back off.  Thanks for the comment!

Stu,
so true - healthy eating is the core of it all. When I abstain from junk over time it just gets easier to say "that's not my food". Now for me at 50, I have to be honest about my amounts.

I have really been deluded myself as to how hard I train. That 30 minute jog is a joke as far as weightloss or tri's is concerned. I have to kick it up two or three notches.
One of my problems is that I'm a moose and really am more suited to bodybuilding than endurance events. When I look at my training log most of my time is spent lifting.
That's fine, but it won't strip my thick layer of fat off my body.

Well enough about me, hope everyone has a good holiday - and watch out for the chips and desserts!

Just say NO to the chocolate bunnies!!

I'm in for another month.  Started P90X on Saturday, and am seeing results already as a result of the meal plan.  Here are the numbers coming in:

  • Feb 1: 164
  • March 1: 165
  • April 1: 163.5
  • Happy Easter Team!

Have you tried P90X?  You may really enjoy the program since it combines lifting with strength cardio moves.  You get the best of both worlds, but stay in more of "lifters" mindset.  Just a thought.  Good luck!

    Saling,

I would like to join back up! It has been a while since I have been here. The weight that I lost while I was activly training and weighing in every week has stayed off for the last couple of years, but I have noticed it trying to creep back up, so I am going to head it off before I get back to where I was.

    Current weight: 255
    Goal for April: 250

Hope you have been well, and will be talking to you on a regular basis.

    Peace,

bit of encouragement for you all...

missed all of last week off work with bad depression episode and a bit nervous about going back in tomorrow. been 'craving' a toasted bagel with crunchy peanut butter and coffee. just had the coffee and managed to not comfort eat the bagel: SO proud of myself.

awareness about why we eat can make a real difference. anybody else find this?

Sappho, so sorry to hear about the mood thing. Have you been over to the depression thread in the Injuries section? Hang in there!

Addict - I've heard of P90X but didn't consider it. I will definitely check it out.

Sorry about how out of shape I've gotten from last year, but I'm starting one mile at a time.
Focus of food is NO junk food, white flour/sugar/rice and ending the day with a calorie deficit.

    Weigh-in is Wed right?

    Hi,

I hope I am not too late to join. I have done this before but sort of fell of the bandwagon and into a tub of icecream. But I have dug myself out one spoonful at a time and am wanting to try again to lose this 35 pounds that I have packed on in the last two years.

Weight as of last Wed = 191
    Goal for April = 186

    4/7   = 270.6

I can honestly say I didnt have a single piece of chocolate or no junk food. I may be retaining some water from all the ham on sunday but thats a few days already and should be done. I am nursing a really sore back that crept up last night so hopefully can get a good sweat on.

I have gained almost 3/4 a pound since saturday. So must have done something a little different.

I resisted the siren call of the chocolate Easter bunnies!!!!  I did have a piece of my amazing (if I do say so myself) lasagna for Easter, but I still kept my calorie count under what I burned.  I sent the rest of the lasagna home with my mom so I wouldn't be tempted.  I think it helped that on Saturday my husband and I moved 13 cubic yards of mulch.  I have an extremely steep driveway - it was built before current codes so it is a 30% grade (I'm not exaggerating).  We loaded up the wheel barrow and took turns pushing it up our own personal mountain.  I was so tired I was practically in tears by that night.  There are still 2 yards left down by the street so I may try to move them today.

BTW, thanks for welcoming all of us newbies.

Kevin, We all love ya, but if you don't follow the rules and at least attempt to lose weight.....Well what can I say you are just tearing us apart and we may not be able to be in your life anymore. You should have convinced your daughter NOT to get married as it was detrimental to your weight loss goals....How inconsiderate is she? Consider your situation and if we are not more important then your silly job and family...What can I say...sigh.
