My calculated risk payed off.  Last week I noticed my calorie intake had drifted down to about 1400-1500.  I started thinking that if that was what I was eating at 200+ pounds what was I going to be able to eat when I was in the 130's?  I decided to increase my calorie intake to around 1750-1800 for the week (actually I hit 1900 on average) and that seems to have revved up my engine.  It was a little scary and one day I felt like I was losing control.  I was afraid I was going to go off the wagon but I kept telling myself I didn't need to be perfect.  I logged everything I ate even when I didn't want to admit to it, and I think that was the most important reason I got back on track.  The one day I thought I was so "bad" wasn't as bad as I thought when I really looked at the raw numbers in fitday.  I've been working on my all or nothing attitude especially when it comes to exercising.  My new mantra is something is better than nothing.  

Goal for May - 194 

Boy I can't wait to say goodbye for good to the 200's.



 


I have read some studies on Leptin that would explain this loss of weight as you increase calories and why we stop losing weight when we cut calories.

No doubt about it.  We've been doing this with body builders for DECADES when they are cutting for a show.  We restrict their intake for 10-12 weeks, then give the a three day high-carb re-feed.  All of the sudden, they start dropping weight again at an accelerated rate.  Increased Leptin and decrreased Cortisol levels were later identified as the cause for this.  It's BEST if this is a controlled re-feed.  Just downing cake and ice cream won't give you the best possible results.  This is one of the best methods for someone who has plateaued, as long as they are already eating a high quality diet and are working out with the right intensity and volume.  When I plan my re-feed, I usually stock up on a bunch of fruit, oatmeal, quinua, etc and just about double my calories for three days.  All of the increases come from these carbs.  It's never failed me!

Down 5 for the month so not as bad as I thought.

Goal for May 173.

Okay I'm doing a final weigh in because it still April and I lost a little in the last few days - hormones. Nuff said.

March 1 - 156
April 1 - 152.6
April 7- 151
April 14 - 149.8
April 21 - 152.4
April 28 - 151.4
April 30 - 150.0



So my real loss for the month is 2.6, which I'm happy with. Goal for next month is 148.

Wow, what a horrible month for weight loss. I really cant explain it. I have been eating well, and working my azz off.

This is really a bummer.

I dont know if my body is resisting now, as I have begun  biking as well - who knows. 


OK this really doesnt make much sense. I have not worked out since wednesday got on the scale this morning a 262.6

Not that I am complaining, but geez.

I know I'm overdue, but I did make my modest goal of losing 4 lbs. in April. At least as of last Wed. today I'm up 2... so much is water - just have to stay on the downward side.
