i just looked at the bike course length and giggled... By the time I get settled into aero, the dismount will be coming up around the corner...

The length is not what is gonna stop you being aero, the fact that you need a cyclo cross bike down Avent Ferry might prevent you being aero.
Good luck on the weekend and may you find a smooth line on the bike.  

grkid is not kidding. The roads are BEAT up in some places. For me personally, he longer the bike the better.

Yo Scottie! I'm racing too. I haven't done squat after the half marathon cause of the damn studying (btw I I failed this past thursday :/ ), which means i have to continue studying. I'll be studying less though and will start training hard for my season ....and also drop these lbs i gained while studying

I have these next couple of days before the race to get somewhat back into the groove.

I'll be there.  And Avent Ferry is no joke, it's like Mountain Biking on slicks!  Make sure your bag has 2 tubes in in and some CO2 tubes!  What I fear is newbies that make bad riding decisions and possibly hurt a faster rider on these rough roads.  Be careful since you will most likely be passing fatties like me!

Hmm..this road surface is making me think twice about using my race wheels...i wonder if i can fill my tires with fix-a-flat so they dont puncture..

No way would I use those wheels on this "short" course.  It's not worth it.  As well, you will not get benefit from the wheels vs the risk of cracking them on a 10.5 stretch...just not worth it based on the surfaces.  Now that said, I did see several folks last year with the very same wheels but I would not risk it for just 10.5 miles.  Anything you lose on time, mere seconds or maybe 1 minute, make it up in the run buttercup

changin a flat is almost not even worth it in this short a distance...

Monday 4/12 water temp. is 65.

That's what it was at Beaver Dam this past weekend, and it felt great!  Full sleeve wetsuit though.

Gaaaaaa..... here comes the racing season and I can't run until June!!  This stinks!!!!!!!  Good luck at Triangle!!  Loved that race last year!

If it makes you feel any better Ginger, I didn't start my season last year 'til the BASF Smile Train race in June and still had an overall fun season!

oh and cant WAIT to coat myself in Aquaphor samples!

I toyed with the idea of this one- looks to be a fun race. But after the relevant discussions with the family unit, we decided that my family credit units would better be spent on a long bike on Sunday and White Lake :-) Good luck to you guys doing it!
