Waiting on the official results and splits Harold. I was 23rd OA. 1:10:17 I think. They had some issues with listing people under their old ages and not aging them up, so we'll see. Run was brutal due to heat and HUMIDITY. It was great to meet everyone. I think I actually met all the BT'ers there.

Hey guys......Thanks for the words of encouragement.  I don't think I could have gone one more length in the pool.....lol.  But...it's over and I finished.

No idea on the splits.....but I came in at 1:15:39.  That's better than I thought I would do.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how I did in the splits.  Having never done a race before....I had nothing to gauge it to.  If you asked, though.....I think I ran a good race (for me).  I wouldn't do anything (OK...maybe the swim!) a "lot" differently.

Glad you guys enjoyed the beers.  That's my staple.  Look me up next time!

Bit of a rant coming. They just updated the website. Results are apparently going to be posted by noon tomorrow. Pokey pokey considering Setup already posted the results of their triathlon that was held this morning. I like same-day results. And I like it when companies do things when they say they will. Hey, but at least the Blackhawks just scored their 6th! Let's go Hawks!

Overall Splits are posted - no age group specifics yet.I finished in 1:17:51, which I'm pretty happy with for my first tri. I went in thinking the run would be my easiest part since I consider it my strongest, but in reality it was rough. The second half, especially the climb out of the back neighborhood and the climb to the finish were killer with the heat and humidity. I think I pushed too hard on the bike, because 17.5 is my fastest bike average for 12 miles on my super tanker MTB. I screwed up on lap 2 of the bike and dropped my water bottle, so turning around to get it cost me a little time. I was cussing tris while I was on the 2nd half of the run, but afterwards I realized it was a lot of fun and was worth it. I need to train up to do longer bike/run bricks, but I think I'll be ready to try another sprint in the august/september timeframe. Maybe I can even score a tri bike before then!

Nice job, especially with doing it on a mountain bike! During my first tri, I spent half the run debating whether I should EVER do any exercise ever again. But then realized it really is fun (once it is over). :-) Yeah, running after biking can be kinda humbling. Great job on your first one though- now you have some things to work on to make the next one easier :-) Oh, FWIW, the AG results are up now- all part of the same big file. I put my race report up as well, just for kicks (actually, they are nice to look back on as you think about your next race).

Thanks! I definitely enjoyed the whole experience, especially now looking back. I think I'm planning on signing up for the wakefield event in late August... see you guys there.

I enjoyed the Gary Kirby.  I'd like to measure the pool, though, because I am thinking that it might be meters and not yards.  Now that the race is over and I witnessed some racers only doing three laps and then having to turn around and get their fourth lap, it might be nice to change the bike route next year so that it is a 2 lap course.  I also saw one woman that rode 5 laps.

During the run I met Linda in passing and had a brief conversation.  She said "Go 65" and I said "Go 10"  After the race I met Doug.  Never did find the cooler of beer after the race but I did  find the pool which was great for bringing down my body temperature.

Met my goals of crossing the line with a smile, running without cramping, and making some new friends.  Finished in 1:14:38 and am also very happy with this performance.  I hope everyone enjoyed the white doves I released just before the swim start.  This makes 5 triathlons so far this rookie season.  Next race is 3 Little Pigs.

I met Brent of FSseries today while doing a brick workout. He was driving by in a Jeep and slowed down to talk. I asked about the pool and he and his passanger confirmed that most people forget that the timing mat was outside the pool area so the time it takes you to climb out and run across the mat needs to be taken into account when looking at your time.

They also said that the maps for the Rex Wellness Tri will be up shortly. I am looking forward to this one as I live in the neighborhood, literally! (8/22 is the race and it is under "other" on the FSseries website).

Doug

I didn't get an email either so thanks for pointing this out Mark!

They got a few nice bike shots from the race last weekend. This is my new bike and I think she is pretty. Pity I am spoiling the view! Sorry about that. Anyway, the swim and run ones were the usual ones of me looking winded and like a dork so I didnt link to them :-) You may have to cut and paste these if the hyperlinks dont work.

They might have me this time. Usually the pictures are all the same from one race to another, but I don't know if I can resist this one. The couple before it are good, too.

In all seriousness though, those pics are great Mark- worth $12 for sure.
