Here's something to entice you... general map of the area. The bays are less than 10 minutes from my house, either direction.

Rattlefish Bar & Grill is at the docks; we can enjoy gorgeous sunsets while enjoying cold beer or umbrella-laden exotic concoctions. Oh, and live music on the deck. Trendy.

Green Iguana. Cold beer and burgers or grouper sandwiches. Sit inside where there is live music or outside in the palm frond covered deck. Eclectic clientele (DINKys, singles, bikers, drunk crazy chicks hollering about squirrels, etc).

Hooters - 2, one within 5 minutes of my house, the other a whopping 10 minutes away in trendy Channelside. Cold beer, etc.

Publix (for your gallon of milk) is just 5 minutes away but I will keep a fridge chock full of goodies so you needn't step foot in it (unless we run out of beer!).

Pane Rustica for pre-race pasta dinner. Best restaurant in town. Chef owner prepares fresh food deliciously. A whopping 7 minute drive from my hacienda.

Bayshore Blvd just 5 minutes away. For insomniacs like me, great place for late night runs.

I figure if I commit my house to fellow BTers, there's no way I will backout of the marathon run! I need that kind of peer pressure.

Offering up your house AND paying a $70 race entry fee...yep that'll do it. And within the next 24 hours or so, I should have a training plan ready for you too. You are gonna be one smokin' hot racer-chick come next February!

IF, by BBQ, we mean fire with lots of various dead animal flesh(es) and BBQ sauce and not just grillin' out, then I'm in.  A marathon was going to be one of my goals for 2006, and I'm always game for going places where I can fish, so why not?

Darlin', I'm talking about REAL BBQ chicken/ribs, up to your elbows in sauce, hush puppies, and coleslaw.

Hello all,
Im new around here, but when i saw the words Tampa Florida, i had to look twice and think alot!! I love florida. Ive been wanting to go back for quite awhile and i think that a marathon would be great! When would the training start? I really do love tri training and have sort of committed to a few tris in the not so far off future. The first being the General Butler triathlon in Carrollton kentucky if that doesnt pan out then i have a closer to home one thats not and off road affair. Im having no luck finding trails to ride on where i live at. Anyway, back to the marathon, i would proabably want to do the half if there is one. Well, as of now, count me in. email is [email protected]

Count me in. I was planning on training for a 1/2 in December in Downtown Orlando, so I can use that race as a half way mark to February. Sounds like a great time, and a good way to meet fellow BT'rs. Anyway, I live in Orlando, so if there is any details or things that need to be done to help this along, just let me know.

Corey

I don't have any plans of doing a marathon, but I just figured I'd post and say this is a cool idea. And, I ate at the Green Iguana last weekend and it was pretty good.

I ran Tampa Bay in January 2003. It was the last marathon I have done. I had a great time (althoug slightly injured) The race was beautiful. Anyway I thought I would never be able to run it again as I hate training outdoors here in the winter. However now that I am moving to Orlando I think I could be up for this.

Lucy, when you say things like there is no off season here you make my heart go pitty pat!

I'm doing the Disney Mary in January, and had planned to do Gasparilla 1/2.    Sounds like it's gonna be a good time!!

I'm in for Gasparilla, either half or whole! Assuming my knees hold up, as I'll have Chicago and Disney on the docket before this...Book it, Danno.

Yes, we do.  I would call it "Critical Mass", BT style.

Add Jessica (Tri Take Me Away) - I believe she's in for the half-mary at the least.

Never mind. I see she's already there!

I believe we are at all ends of the spectrum in our running fitness. Do the newbies (like me) have a training plan? Do they need one?

I'm updating my list of BTers to inspire to include the Gasparilla misfits. If anyone wants an inspire, let me know. I can always use a running inspire!

I don't want to be the youngest here- any other 20-somethings planning to race? Okay, I think that if my knee cooperates, I could to the 1/2 mary...Max, anyone- direct me to a plan? SO excited for this!!!

OK, I'll echo it here too...I sent Lisa and Sue copies of the plan I had given to Renee. If Christine would like it and can PM me her email addy, I'll send it to her as well.

And I'm and Old, slow runner, so I'll be hanging back with the rest of you. I'll let Karl and the Bear run up front!
