I'm in! Doing Mooseman Int'l two weeks prior. Did same last year. Tricky build-taper strategy.

I'm doing similar...

Mooseman Oly
2 weeks later Patriot HIM
3 weeks later RI 70.3

I've been riding the course a couple times a month. One bridge is closed and not sure how it will effect the bike course. I think there is away around it. You can walk across the bridge it but has barriers for cars.

I had actually thought about doing Patriot, but opted for Timberman instead as my 1st 70.3.  I look forward to reading race reports on it since I may consider doing it next year.

I had my knee scoped yesterday so won't be racing but plan to come to the race and hopefully volunteer. My husband is doing the sprint and my friend Rene is coming up from TX for the HIM.

Quick Question.. the biggest hill on the bike is the same "big" hill from Cranberry, right? as in there is no major hill?

About 65% of the Patriot course is the same as Cranberry maybe 70%.

I think the Patriot addition has the hardest part of the course..long up hill that changes in steepness but overall for MA tri course is rolling.

If you look at the map of the bike course of Patriot, route differs from Cranberry at mile marker 2 turning left on Washburn and you catch back up to Cranberry course just beyond mile 10 of Patriot course at Country road. It is also different as it goes on the run course backwards so you don't go on Pickens.

Not sure which big hills you mean?

Course is 28.56 for one loop.

Family friendly race? My daughter is almost 4. Will the water be available for others after we are swimming? Anything for her to do for 5 hours?

Race director frowns on those swimming outside race.

Stuff to do for your daughter..no playground. It's a camp with lots of grass and trees.

Bike course goes by front of the camp which is under tress so she could hang out there for a bit and cheer for you as you zoom past going 20+ mph.

I'm getting excited. this is my only race this year other than IMLP in 6 weeks. My coach said this is a Z race and he is leaving my 3hr run on my plan for the next day.. He said "go too hard and our next few weeks will suck."
Rules: Baby the swim, ride the bike "no chain" and have a "conversation on the run."
Mantra: training race, training race, training race.

I'll be there! Looking forward to the cooler weather in MA. Well anything is going to be cooler than where I am. It was 95 when we ran yesterday.

Kathy promised me there would be cooler weather in MA. So Patriot here I come!

Rode the course today.  Seems more like 57 than 58 miles (didn't get a completely accurate read because we left from Ted Williams camp on each loop and added about 4 miles doing that).

Other than some rough pavement from miles 5 to 10, not bad.  Fairly flat with some rollers, don't need to leave the big chain ring.  Hopefully the weather next Saturday will be just as cool as today.

Regarding the family friendliness of the event... there is a small playground on the grounds of Cathedral Camp. You can also go fishing though I realize not a lot of 4 year olds will be into that. There will be a band starting at 12:30pm and there's plenty of open space for frisbee play, catch or whatever else you can dream up. Swimming is frowned on because there are no lifeguards on duty once athletes finish the swim leg, but parent and child can certainly wade into the water together to cool off.

Thank you. Gonna be HOT tomorrow. Had planned to race with only one bottle on the bike, but bringing my profile design aerobottle for the front as well.
