Starting weight: 169.5
July 7: 169.5
July 14: 170
July 21: 167.5

After seeing a slight gain in the beginning of the week and feeling frustrated that I'm losing weight slower than I would like (don't we all wish we could lose it faster?) I'm happy with this number. I'm currently visiting my parents in upstate NY, so I am using a different scale, but I think it is pretty accurate b/c my scale at home showed 168 on Sat before I left.

I've been forcing myself to run and swim (fortunately my parents have a pool) during my baby's nap. My mom has been kind enough to watch my two older kids during this time so I can get in a good hour of exercise. Hopefully I can lose and/or maintain my weight for the rest of this vacation.

Unfortunately, my grandma has been baking an average of one desert a day (cake, brownies, etc) and leaving it out on the kitchen counter. She made something she called "oatzies" yesterday and said they were a healthy snack b/c they had oatmeal in them. Well, the other main ingredients were chocolate, corn syrup, and peanuts....hmmm, don't think that will help me with the weight loss

iluvmybeamer- I agree that weight loss becomes super hard once you get closer to your goal. But it can still be very frustrating especially when you're doing the right things and not seeing the results. Just keep doing what you're doing, the weight WILL come off.

pb- I was also going to suggest donating the food. Or, just bring it to someone else's house. I teach, so during the school year I will sometimes leave food in the teacher's lounge or give it to my students.

Congrats to all who lost weight this week.

I'm in a ridiculous plateau right now. Just weighed in at 201.2. Under 200 my body hasn't seen in ages, so I guess it's fighting me for some reason. Anyways, I have my next Tri on Sunday and plan to start three weeks of HIIT before jumping back into the next bout of Tri training so hopefully that will help the breakthrough.

I do have one question. I got the new Tanita BC-533 scale and am wondering if Body Water really plays a big role in accurate readings. Reason I ask is because of these day apart readings that I got.

7/17
Wt: 202
BF% 36.0
Body Water: 46.2
Muscle Mass: 122.8

7/18
Wt: 202
BF% 40.1
Body Water: 43.3
Muscle Mass: 114.4

Now, I know I didn't lose or gain that much muscle mass overnight so since the weight didn't change, I'm wondering about the Body Water. They say women should have between 45 and 60% body water. I drink water ALL THE TIME and can never seem to get to 50% even on my old scale. Anyone have any insight to all of this?

Thanks for the support.  Earlier in the month, I hit a low of 146.  At that point I had about 11 lbs to reach my overall goal.  So frustrating to see my weight climb back up to 152.

I'm not going to make my 283 goal this month but I did manage to get under 290. I'm doing my very first Tri on Saturday. Its an off road sprint but kind of a long sprint. I looking forward to surviving it.

Hey all, sorry I disappeared for a while.  It's been a busy couple of weeks.  I'm still the same 184.5 I was when I checked in 2 weeks ago.  I'm actually fine with that because we did go out to dinner for my B-day last week and we had a wonderful dinner and I also had cake a couple of times for my son's birthday and for mine.

The exercise has been going pretty well.  I had a fantastic run on Saturday, not sure of the distance because they were trails, but it was definitely my longest run so far and it felt great.  I tried to concentrate on the swimming, but the more I read and concentrated on my technique, the worse I got.  My mom asked me what I wanted for my b-day and I told her swim lessons, so she gave me the money to take a few.  I had my first lesson last night and I think I found my problem.  I'm going over to the pool now to practice.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Goal 239

7-7 = 248.2 - nice up a couple lbs....hopefully all water weight from the salty food.
7-14 = ?
7-21 = 243.2

Dont really know how I have lost weight. On 7-10 I was in a motorcycle accident and have barely moved since then. I have eaten pancakes often, pizza when I want, as well as some fast food. I havent been very low carb at all. I had to get on the scale 3 times this morning to ensure it said the same thing which it kept coming up as the above.

I dont think I could be losing muscle this fast but anything is possible. I can barely walk, so no running or working out for me for a while. Cant even lift weights as I have a broken rib.

ckallpoint- Good luck on your tri!

Sheilby- You'll love the swim lessons. I improved so much after taking mine. My stroke technique was awful. After I worked on improving it, I was faster going "easy" than I was "going all out" with my old bad stroke.

Garceau- Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you have a quick recovery.

CKALLPOINT... Good luck on the Tri... relax and enjoy it and all the work you have put into this point.

July 07 - Who knows I was on vacation and eating like crap..lol lots of sugar.
July 14 - 237.5 Not too bad for 2 days back from vacation
July 21 - 239 - BOOOOOOO -220's seemed so close now I feel like I am back in the 240's, sounds soo much worse.
July 28

I hurt my knee on sunday in the MCL area and I am an emotional eater and I fell apart last week and all weekend, not eating right, not recording things right. Gave into Pizza and pasta at work one day and a tasty chicken lunch and more pasta with white sauce.. And now my work outs are limited with a Tri at the end of august that I convinced some work people to get into. Now I see them training like mad and I am stuck walking my dog for 40-45 mins and hopefully swimming this weekend.

Guess it gave me a chance to hit a weight bench for the first time in a long time.

And the most dangerous thing I did.. I snuck into my wifes secert Chocolate stash and ate some of it... I almost paid for this with my life...hahahaha

I'm still in after a week off for injury.  I was afraid to weigh in last week, but I did today and was happily surprised.

7-1   212
7-7   214
7-14 ???
7-21 211

I'm finally on the right track this month.  I don't think I'll make my goal of 206 in the next week, but I think I'll be a couple of pounds closer.  I'm back on track with my workouts and all the junk from the 4th holiday is gone from the house!

Hope you heal soon.  My DH was in a motorcycle accident a couple of years ago and his knees still look liked chewed up bubble gum.

pdbman - 2010-07-20 11:09 AM Our fridge is too full of junk right now. My wife is over a catalog. She just finished up a photo shoot and this last one had a lot of food in it (pies, really tasty rolls, candies) and now it is all in our fridge. I really hate to see it go to waste but then I also don't want to see it go to waist. My wife and son aren't really into sweet things like that so its all up to me to finish it up.

How about donating it?

We're a part of an organic produce co-op.  We can never finish all the food that comes in our share, so a couple of days before it goes bad, we donated to a local homeless shelter or the Ronald McDonald house.  Just FYI here:  Ronald McDonald house will give you a receipt for taxes too.

I haven't really thought about it on a personal level. I didn't think a half dozen rolls, two partial pies, and misc open containers of candy goods would be usable. I have suggested it to my wife and the friend she does catering with for their leftovers but they resist the idea. We still have food in our freezer from several weddings. We have volunteered at soup kitchen type places and my wife and her friend have done things for the Ronald McDonald house so I don't know why they resist the idea.

WooHoo...I finally made it on time to a weigh in!  Still holding steady at 169, but I have really cleaned up my eating habits and cut out most of the alcohol, so I'm hoping to start seeing results very soon.  I don't mind losing it slow, but I'm kind of tired of being at this weight.

What a difference the first lesson made.  I practiced today and I was definitely getting the hang of breathing properly.  I have another lesson tomorrow and I can't wait to show off my improvement.

Trimore - belated congrats on baby #6, that is wonderful.  How is he doing?  I always wanted a big family but my body didn't cooperate.  I do have three wonderful boys though.

I know some of that is from doing a long run late last night but still it was one of my better eating weeks in forever.

Up a bit, but I'm not surprised. I made mac&cheese and pizza  my two most important food groups the last couple of days topped off with barely any exercise. *Sigh* I need to buckle down. I have a race in less than two weeks and I'd like to get a little more weight off, not on.

Good job to all that lost this week! Keep up the great work!
