I've got races the next two weekends, but I think we need to schedule something for July 30th, in the morning.  We've done several group rides already, anybody up for an OW swim or a run?  Anybody up for helping organize this?  Cherry Creek Res?  Aurora Res?  Boulder Res?  Chatfield?

Wifey and I went to the Aurora Res as planned on Saturday and it was great. Turns out it was kinda crowded but it was good for tri training. I really had to focus on sighting. The water was pretty cold but very clear. We actually went out and bought wet suits immediatly afterwards. My wife couldn't warm up again. All in all it was a good workout.

We've got plans this weekend for a long ride, but we're tagging along with some cycling freinds on Saturday then the Danskin is on Sunday. We might be up for somethng after the Danskin if anyone is interested.

Anyone want to do anything earlier... maybe just an OW swim somewhere. I'll be gone by the 30th and would like to say goodbye to you all before I go!

I do!  Options:

  • OWS
  • bike in Ft. Collins
  • party or something as a "bon voyage"

Your thoughts?

I would love it if we could do a bike/barbeque. Go biking up Big Thompson Canyon and then a goodbye to Kim. The only problem is that next Sat I gotta a garage sale, July 24 is BP Oly and July 29-30 I'm moving to a new house. Sooooo it's gonna have to be a July 23 (day before I tri) or Sunday July 17 which means no beer cause I gotta drive home!

I'd be up from a ride (or whatever) and am usually pretty flexible so I can try to adapt to dates that work better for others.

Matt - I was thinking about going out to the Danskin to maybe meet some people and possibly get a (my first) open water swim in afterwards. Or bike - whatever. I mentioned it to Ben once, but we never really decided on anything. If you guys are up for something, let me know. He may still be up for it too. Ben? Or anyone else for that matter.

Ooo - July 17th is the Danskin, and the Table Mesa Tris - I don't know who all will be at Danskin, but I will be at Table Mesa, trying to cut into the Elite-level bike times.

Kim, since there will be a handful of us doing BP, we could just have a lunch party after packet pickup in Boulder/Longmont or some such - would that work?

Off topic but related to Danskin and doing a workout after the race:  just FYI, the roads will be CLOSED completely from about 6:30 to 11, so if you want to watch ANY of the race, you have to be there at 6:30 (yeah, I know....it's weird).  Or plan on showing up after 11....the traffic promises to be a mess.

Sounds good to me, as I said before, we have a ride planned for Saturday, but an OWS at Aurora would be great after the Danskin. The park doesn't 'officially' open back up until 2:00pm, but I'm sure if we're there for the race we could get right in afterwards.

Matt - Your poor wife. I guess my extra body fat keeps me warm.   I thought Aurora was really warm and comfortable when we swam there!

Can't wait to meet people at Danskins!

OK, now wait a minute - I started this thread to be about a group training, and a party for Kim is definitely group training, but cold water and the Danskin?  WHAT ABOUT KIM?!?!

I'll be out of town the weekend of the BP, but I can say goodbye to Kim at the Danskin on Sunday (I can't believe you're already moving, Kim!!!).

I'd be up for group training on the 30th - especially if it's on my end of town   I would suggest an open water swim at the gravel pond at Chatfield, followed by either a trail run or bike ride.  If people are up for food, we could bbq afterwards at the park or at my house depending on the # of people.

Does that sound good to anyone?

I'm the non official spokesperson for Kim.....she says she would be up for an OWS at Boulder Rez on 7/23 after (?before?) packet pick up.  I can look into reserving a grill if anyone is interested in that (Kim is.....).

Aside from that, Stacey, I would totally be up for going south for a group event.

If anyone is still interested in doing something around the 30th, I'd be up for that. Still no bike though, so I'd vote for a ow swim or run. enjoy the party (we've got relatives coming then) and

GOOD LUCK KIM!

I'm down for the OW swim and party after packet pick up on July 23. I'll be up in Boulder anyway. And I really want to give Kim a great send off. Plus I have stuff in my garage I need to get rid of so everyone is getting a present whether you like it or not!

OK, as unofficial BT-CO mascot, let's do the OW swim/packet pickup at Boulder Res on the 23rd.

That still leaves the 30th unblocked.  OWS/run at Chatfield then?  We haven't befouled been to Stacey's house yet...

I *think* both work for macdaddy and me.  The 30th is his birthday (shhhh - I didn't tell you that - he moves up into the next age group! - he'll never check here )

Stacey, any plans for the 30th?

I'll look into the BBQ pits for the Rez on the 23rd.

What time is packet pick-up on the 23rd? Or more importantly, what time are you guys planning on picking up your packets? I'll come along for the swim and BBQ, but won't expect anyone to wait on me. Just make sure I'm still floating breathing on your way back.

I believe packet pickup starts at 10 am, with a meeting at 11.  By 11:30, I'll be darn hungry...

OK, so the 23rd is packet pick up for BPT, OWS swim, or could run or bike, AND sadly GOOD BYE to kimj81 (not on BT, just in CO)

So if packet pick up is that early, that is perfect.  The beach/swimming "opens" at 11.  You aren't allowed to swim unless there's a guard there.  Turns out we can bring propane grills.  It is expensive to rent an area.  Hence, we'll either all byop(p for protein) for grilling or a sandwich or something.  Anyone up for bringing a grill?  Also no glass is allowed FYI.  I've seen them be pretty strict there.  AND, it's $6 to get in.

How about meeting at 11ish at Boulder rez on the 23rd?  I know there's the meeting, so you racer people can show up late.  Heck, if we're hanging out for a while, then anyone can show up late.

Who's in?

AND, it's $6 to get in.

Not that I'm advocating any cheating, but when I showed up for 5430 Sprint packet pickup at Boulder Rez, I just said I was with the Triathlon, and didn't have to pay...

I've got one of those little smoky joe grills, so I'll bring that. And cans. God bless whoever decided micros should come in cans as well.
