Finished my first Ironman this Sunday at Ironman Canada. Slow, very slow. Had to walk 39 of 42 km due to cramping calves and blisters. Really upset with myself.  Did 15:51.35  Really thought I would break 15 hrs but I guess that gives me a goal for next time!  Please come up and do this race. The support is AMAZING. 4500 volunteers for 3000 competitors. It's like being a pro no matter where you finish.

Really happy with my swim, 1:11 which was well into the top half of the entire field.  Should call myself a ClydesWHALE.

Congrats! Don't beat yourself up about your time, or walking. Ask yourself, "Did I do what I could do ON THAT DAY?"

Lots of folks try to meet a goal time, without ever experiencing Ironman. Your next may be faster or may be slower. Just enjoy the race.

Congratulations.  That is awesome.

FYi there is never a finished my first anything and being upset with yourself.  Yes it would be nice to reach certain goals but finishing is finishing and that trumps all.

Besides now you have a good goal for next year.

I used the HIM to IM bridge plan from Beginner Tri.  It was awesome. I had the help of a swim coach for the first couple of practices just to get my form straight and then put in the distances. I swam huge this year.

Good luck on the Ironman. Just keep you feet moving and race with your heart, not your legs.

Very cool Colin!  I want to do an Ironman one day as well.  Your 15hr time blows away my "haven't even attempted it yet" time.  You are awesome!

Great job, Colin!  Got the same thing done in Louisville in 14:21:xx.  The next day I swore off IM; I'd done one and that was enough.  Nine days later, I want to do another one b/c I know that I can go faster.  Time heals all blisters!

Amazing how many people swear off Ironman on the course or just after finishing, but then a few days, weeks later the bug bite is back and can't wait to sign up again.
