40-44 Fl. green bib #131 I am so stressed out right now I think I have been sick for a month with the wife and kids now.  Training has mainly been indoor and on a new bike.  holy cow I am not ready for this race.  but at least it will be warm not like here in Oregon.  Good luck all, hope I can finish this bad boy.

Don't defeat yourself prior to starting!!  It's "I will finish, just not as fast as I wanted."  Now enjoy the day!!!  We'll see you at the finish line.

I posted this on my IMCDA Blog because everyone is so focuses on other things.

Just some food for thought.

These types of events are more mental than anything.   Have you started prepping for the wall…self doubt…pain train…. Mile ### when you’re all alone and your body tells you it should stop, what are you going to say to yourself?  Figure out what you’re going to use to motivate yourself.   That’s when you test your METL if you have prepared for this wall it will be worth more than any amount of nutrition you take in.  We all have it in us; it’s just if you want to bring it out on race day.

Just something to think about, happy training.

You're gonna do fine, just concentrate on your pacing and nutrition.

Yes, the weather appears to be improving, sunny and high 60s (for now).....

A nice long wait to get started! I'm getting excited. Trying to round up all the final details! I hope everyone stays (or gets) healthy, and has a great race!

You're just trying psych us out with reminding us how much time we have!!  We need to make sure we say hi at some point since I'll be seeing you at CdA as well, and well, not too many Army folks running around this place, so birds of a feather!!

Just read this course preview from last year, not much as far as new information, but great to reading over and fully visualizing your day.

Have to confess that I skipped my swim tonight.  I got a workout in on the bike this morning but have been feeling kinda lousy most of the day.  No reason to push myself when we're only a week away.  Resting tonight and starting tomorrow fresh.

#1946  Red cap...7:30.  I guess one advantage of being almost the last wave is that there are fewer people to run me over.  I prefer to do the running over.

Forecast now shows showers on Sunday 4/3 (day after).  Hoping that doesn't shift earlier.

My left leg is suddenly a bit problematic.  Had to abort my run yesterday after a mile, and today I managed to do my long run but had a pain flareup in my left hamstring & back of knee every mile or so.  I think it may have something to do with transitioning to my tri bike from the road bike.  Anyway, I'm not going to do my full ride on the tri bike tomorrow, maybe 2/3 roadie and 1/3 tri.  Might have to back off the run pace a bit on race day.  Oh well, it's all good.  I'm still hoping to PR out there, perhaps just not by as much as I'd like to.  Hopefully this issue doesn't get any worse.  Only two more runs early in the week, which I will take very easy.

Yikes.   David, saying this as much (or more) for me than you, there's nothing we can do at this point to train and have a positive effect on our race (negative?  yup....).  Take care of the leg the next few days

Last long(ish) ride today, 45 miles.  Didn't feel particularly strong or peppy, couldn't harness much power, but hopefully that's just taper.  Or it's not.  It is what it is.

Went home and did some maintenance, lubed the bike, inspected the tires and bought new ones cuz the race wheels have been mostly sitting in the garage for two years, tires were a bit crinkly..... Will need to get the tri bike back on the trainer for a short ride, dropped the saddle just a smidge to deal with a hotspot issue.    Started organizing tri stuff, race belts, etc etc.

Long(ish) ez run tomorrow, then another short one or two.  Swim masters Tuesday and about 1000 yds Thursday.   two short trainer rides.  and that's all she wrote.

Just finished packing.  Remember to bring a garbage bag to cover your transition gear.  At least at the transition you can have dry stuff for a little while.  That’s if it rains.

I plan on prepping the bike on wednesday.

This week, during down time at work, I'll think about predicted times and goals.

I don't think we'll have any rain.

Bring it, rain or shine!  Just finished my fourth and final race sim this morning.   All systems go.

Was wet and misty, but if the temps are similar as today (as currently forcast), shouldn't be too cold.  Especially when we are at race pace.

Just finished my last long swim and bike ride. Hit some really good hills before the rain settled in. This is my first 1/2 IM and only my second Tri. Getting a bit anxious, but really looking forward to it. Been training all winter here in Washington state, so pretty much ready for most weather, but would LOVE to ride in weather where I don't have to wear 4 layers just to not freeze to death! Smile

Just finished my long run and Swim.  We fly out Tuesday then spend a couple of days at Disney Land prior to the race.  I think my daughter is going to go bonkers when she sees Disney Land for the first time. I'm not sure who's more excited her or me.

Two days at Disneyland is a greater endurance accomplishment than a HIM.   That should be fun for you guys.  It will be warmer while you are there if the forecasts hold.  And unfortunately Splash Mountain is shut down right now.  But if you go over to Cali Adventure park, the water ride there is open.  You might save that park for the warmest day if you're visiting both parks.

Forecast is bouncing around all over the place.  Now the showers are pushed out until Monday after the race.  Wait another hour and I'm sure it will change again.
