Add a bonus shooting range during transitions, where you use nerf rifles to kill as many zombies as you can in 60 seconds, or something.  :P

I'd bring a nerf shotgun and a nerf machete.

I'll bring my Nerf Vulcan EBF-25 to the race.  I have it retro-fitted to where I have 4 belts together for 100 fully-automatic dart capacity!

I use it to keep my 6-yr-old pinned down in a constant crossfire.  Tongue out

Oh and P.S.  I LOVED The Walking Dead!  I think it's going to be an awesome series!

Id like to think i could but thats certainly a hard one.

They didnt mention a time frame of him being out but id imagine a week or so. Dont think too much about it or you might ruin it for yourself.

Well done. Can't wait for next week's episode. The music score I think was done by the same guy who did Battlestar Galactica, which was awesome in its own right.

My FIL bought one of those for my son.  I have to admit it brought a big smile to my face playing with it.

For my one daughter, it would really depend on the time of day.  Frankly, first thing in the morning, she already looks and acts like a walker - poor eye contact, shuffling gait, grunts rather than actual words.  I would hate to shoot her only to realize it's just because it isn't noon yet. Mrs gearboy would be pretty P.O'd if I shot one of the living by mistake.

<3 Bear McCreary!  His music for the new Battlestar Galactica was a big part of what made that show so frakking fun.

I liked the first Walking Dead.  So far, so good.  Be warned, this show is about people though.  They are apparently staying close to the storyline in the comic.

As a side note, I have to admit that, in the zombie genre, I enjoyed the book World War Z more than Walking Dead.  Two different media (comic vs. novel), I know, but I liked the world-level scope and fast action of WWZ.  It's a damn good read.

I thought it was a shorter time as well until I saw his wife already kissing another guy. That wouldn't happen over a week's time - especially if she wasn't sure he was dead......unless they didn't like each other.

Finally watched it last night and was not disappointed. I'm a fan of the director, Frank Darabont. He seems to be the only one who do anything worthwhile with Stephen King material (Shawshank, Green Mile and The Mist).

While I agree those are all good adaptations... you're forgetting:
Rob Reiner (Stand by Me, Misery)
Brian DePalma (Carrie)
Stanley Kubrick (The Shining)

And, possibly children of the corn, firestarter, christine, and cujo...although those are a bit more traditional in horror scope, and not everyone agrees with some of the adaptations.

nighthawk - 2010-11-02 4:37 PM Finally watched it on Monday...great episode. What I like about it is that it seems to delve into the emotion with the survivors. Maybe I missed this, but does anyone know how long the cop was in the hospital?

I didn't catch that either.  It left me feeling like he was out for days, weeks, or even months (as though he was in a coma) but that's not realistic for his type of wound.  I'm guessing a day or two max but apparently a lot happened in that timeframe.  Also, I guess these zombies leave you alone if you lay over and play dead?  Otherwise, why wouldn't they have attacked him while he laid vulnerable in the hospital?

They didnt mention it directly but a few things I noticed.
The flowers in the hospital room were dried up.  few weeks, maybe a month?
When they were showering in the sheriffs office - the dad said power has been out for a month.    So not sure how long the virus takes hold - but 4 to six weeks would be my guess as to how long he was out and when it started.  No more than 2 months
His room had a gurney blocking the door - since he was quite, in a comma, the zombies would avoid the room.
My guess is he caught the virus, but b/c he was near death w/ the GSW and not dead, he was able to fight it and survive, but it put him in a coma/deep sleep, which is why he looked so gaunt and pale when he finally woke up and why is was out for so long.

(I never read the graphic novel so this is all speculation)

Question I had:  The people that they were pursuing in the beginning - were they just bank robbers or could they be connected to the spread of the virus ala 'The Stand' or 'Outbreak'.  I missed that part

WOW - no comments yet on this today.

LOVED episode 2 - thought it was much better that #1.

So the wife & I are really confused on how long the Sherriff was in the hospital. At first we thought maybe she had been having an affair before Zombie fest with this guy since he is a sherriff as well, but the look she had when she took the necklace with the ring off killed that ideal.

I asked my wife if Zombies come and she thinks I may be dead to at least give it 3 months before she moves on......she told me that she would think about it.

hey at least your wife said she would think about about. My wife has already named my successor..... I loved last nights episode too, I even watched the encore. I thought the most thought provoking part was when they identified the walker before they hacked him up.

Gotta remember the second scene in Episode 1. He and his partner were talking before the shooting. He was talking about fighting with her. The fight was not pretty and upset him. I don't remember exactly but it sounded like they did not visit him in the hospital... only his partner.

my mom mentioned this as well as the partner saying he was with a woman but never mentioned her name. We concluded there was an affair before the whole thing even started.

Episode 2 was great, Alot of quality actors.

Episode 2 was great...my heart was pounding when Glen and the Sheriff were out with the zombies, and that one crazy zombie was getting a little too close. I was thinking that Glen was going to be a goner.

About the affair...if you go back to episode 1 with the two cops talking, it seemed that the Sheriff seemed a little distant in his relationship and that she was looking for someone to pay some attention to her...hence his partner moving in. He seemed to be paying a lot of attention to her in episode 2.

Interested to see if they go back for Michael Rooker (guy chained onto the roof). When I saw his name in the credits, I naturally thought of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer which is an extremely creepy film that he was in.

Ok - watch the first 15 minutes of the first episode and am mostly back on track with the Sheriff/wife relationship.

Now I question if his "deputy" was with the wife at the point of the conversation.

Finally - I do have to say, I thought this on first watching as well, that the scene with the 2 of them in the car is pretty poor. The babbling about keeping the lights on, etc etc was uncomfortable to watch at best. Other than that I have loved everything - that is probably why I missed it the first time around.

Initially I thought the same thing, but because he was moving so fast the walkers wouldn't be able to follow him from ATL. Now it may attract the walkers who are outside the city near their camp.

True... I guess I am thinking more of the WWZ zombies where they call out to each other and it can carry for miles depending on the concentration and the horde will follow.

Only place I've found it is on iTunes, which means you have to pay a little for it. $10 for season pass, $16 for HD. I was trying to watch the first episode opposite the Saints-Steelers game last Sunday, and missed some parts of it. Have yet to find where i can watch it for free.

Hulu has it for free... that is where I watched episode 1 then DVR'd 2. I checked this morning and it is still there.
