While driving this week, I listened to my iPod and realized that most of the guitarists were taken too soon. So, who's your most revered guitarist who'se gone?

I really noticed listening to "Let's Dance" by Bowie OMG: Stevie Ray is unbelievable on the title song. That and Little Sister. Man, he could make that axe sing.

Posting a pole sounds redundant.  As if he is saying the same thing twice and two times.

SRV.

I remember where I was when I heard of the crash.

I pulled over and turned off my truck so I could listen to the whole report.

18 year old on his way to college and I was devastated.

No seriously, he's got beautiful style and songwriting (save the "My Sweet Lord" debaucle). Listen to how clean "Here comes the sun" is or how complex "While my Guitar Gently weeps "is. Hed carries a lot of the Travelling Willburys songs, despite the awesome talent around him. Within his style, he's beautiful.

Oops, my bad. Steal his wife and credit for a great song. OK, I need to step away from the scotch.

Aw man I wish I could add more than one to the poll: Andres Segovia.  He brought classical guitar to us, and taught or influenced many of the world's best guitarists.

I almost added him, but put Tommy Emanuel instead.  THEN I read the instructions. They're both still living.  doh!
