Did this rave last year. Stayed at the Harris Chapel down the street from the race. Saw questions about the parking. Parking seemed tight as it's in the fields next to park and transition.

It seemed last year if you arrived from the direction where this Chapel is located, it is easier as all others will be driving in from the direction they point you from the expo.

Chapel is located on corner of E Co Rd 650 S and Co Rd 544 E in Selma. Don't know if this helps or takes more time to detour to this way but found no restriction getting into parking.

With 10 weeks to go, how is the training going for everyone?

I can say I've mentally hit the doldrums a couple times recently just from the consistent grind of training.  Ugh.

The weather around here has really been draggin me down.  I ran today with a long sleeve shirt, gloves, and beanie hat.....brrrr, it's May already, danggit!

I PR'd my HM this past weekend, so that helped rejuvinate my spirit some.  I'm really looking forward to Muncie, I just wish the weather would cooperate.

Bingo.  That is certainly a big part of the blahs.  I've had enough of cold, wind and rain.

Less than 6 weeks to go! I have been officially training for this since November- 16 week oly program followed by 20 week HIM. During this whole time I have only missed 3 workouts, but I still don't feel ready. Does anyone ever feel ready before their first HIM?

Im using Muncie as a "up tempo" training day/brick for IMLOU. Working on race day nutrition/etc.
Feeling pertty good about thngs at this point. Coach has me up over 4000yrds in the pool, a 50+ mile ride once a week with smaller more interval based rides during the week and lots of mid-range runs 6-8miles with 10K intervals (10-15mins @ about 7:40 pace) mixed in.
Volunme started coming up last week as all eyes are on IMLOU in late Aug.

Hey all, if I understand the race rules, I have 2 questions:

1) You can wear a wetsuit up to 82 degrees, but above 78 or so and you relinquish the podium chance (not a factor for me)

2)  Has anyone done this last year when it was the Muncie Endurathon, and do they remember if it was wetsuit legal?

Thanks!

From what I understand, Muncie tends to be wetsuit legal about 50% of the time.  It was wetsuit legal when I participated in 2009; however, it was not wetsuit legal in 2010.

I, too, am using Muncie as a "tune up" for IMKY in August.  I do plan to race it, though.  I really, really, really want to break 6 hours on this course and have been training to do so.  I'm getting excited!

Is anyone else a weak swimmer and be wearing a wetsuit out there up to the 83 degree limit, or will I be the only wimp with one on?

I'll be wearing my wetsuit unless they rip it off me.

To shave or not to shave the legs - does doing so really offer a significant streamline/drag reducing advantage?

Shave them if they are tanned.   looks good,  no other advantage!

Looking forward to this one. Training and racing has been going great (had some PF in my left heel, mostly gone now) and ready for something LONG.
Did the Westpoint Lake Oly last weekend in 2:28:29, set a 5min PR.
Ran a solid 8 miles along Copacabana Beach in Rio on Thurs, with 3x12min 10K pace (7:30's) intervals.
Rode 50 today mostly in Z3 (140+ HR) and legs are feeling good.
Using this race to build for IMLOU in Aug...HYPED!!!

18 days till Muncie!      Doing Big Foot OLY  in Lake Geneva  this weekend.   Will sharpen me up a lil bit I'm hoping.

Wondering if anyone else has any events ahead of our little get together in Muncie!

I'm doing a sprint at Morse Park north of Indianapolis this weekend! Lookingg forward to it and to 70.3 Muncie. I rode by the reservoir last week and Ironman had already dropped off the semi trailers w/ the huge Ironman logo on the side! Pretty exciting to see.

Hey Ron - they're up as well on the IronmanMuncie.com website under the tab "COURSE" and then "Swim Waves". I just got my first e-mail from IRONMAN giving all the event details. SO exciting!

So after reading through the athlete information, something seemed kinda odd to me. On page 13 under "Local Traffic Laws" bullet #3, it says to use local stores for the toliet. So, are there no porta potties?
