Congrats to all.  We had a blast volunteering and supporting the athletes.  Our condo this year was on the south side of Surf Drive right before mile 1 and we were able to set up a perfect mini tailgate to watch the LSU game and support everyone.

Signed up for 2012 this morning and headed back to New Orleans now.  Can't wait for the 2012 IMFLA thread.

Saw you guys 4 times. Even stopped to check the score on my last time through! Alway yelled Geaux Tigers. Duane

Wow!  Nice job everyone.  Great times, great inspiration.

Question for anyone that stayed at the Condos at the Boardwalk Resort.  Are they nice? How was parking?  Did you get to park in the garage or down the street?

Stayed at Shores of Panama this year and had an awesome unit but I'd be willing to spend a few more dollars to stay right on site.

Thanks,

Duane

The condo is ok. Not outstanding, but not bad. Parking was not a problem at all. The lot was never completely full. I never had to look for a place to park. I loved being this close to everything. It made the race that much more enjoyable.

Congrats to everyone!!!

I was looking for Kathy on my last run loop. It was dark but was looking for 606. I heard someone with a Northeast accent giving encouragement and happen to catch part of her race number. Had a chance to say hi very briefly as we passed. What a great encourager and example.

I have no complaints with my race. First goal was just to finish, and I did that. My second goal was to beat 15 hrs. I came in at 13:51 so I was very happy.

This has been an awesome journey and I appreciate all the support and advice from all.

I am in for IMFL 2012! Now what? I am thinking about training for / doing a marathon in April as prep leading up to kicking off training for the IM. Any thoughts?

Congrats!!

You will get all different answers on this subject. I say do whatever helps you the most mentally. If you do your IM training you will be physically able to complete the run portion. If it helps you mentally to complete a marathon first then go for it. I did a marathon 2 years ago. This year the most I ran was 17 miles. I had no issues on the run because I was faithful to the training plan.

Just finished my first Ironman race this weekend.  FWIW, I did not do any specific marathon or marathon training leading up to this.  I felt like it would take too long to recover from and interupt my schedule.  I also had never run a marathon prior to IMFL.  I am not the fastest runner, and only did a 4:50 or so on the marathon, so that is the one place I will try to improve before my next attempt.  But felt like what I did in the training plan got me ready and through it.  Congrats to all the other BT'ers this past weekend.  Didn't get to meet up with you guys because of some family commitments and a sick kid (my 4yr old son was puking all day of the race and didn't get tosee any of it).  I was pretty upset I didnt get to see him on the race.  Luckily my 2yo daughter made the run start and that gave me a huge boost.

Possibly a dumb question, but will they have race pictures available for purchase, I never got around to preordering them but I assume they will be available at some point to see/buy them?

Congrats to all the IMFL peeps! This was my first and had no idea what to expect. Goal was 15 hours and if all the stars allaign could have been 1430. Finished in 13:47:05.  Was a fantastic swim, respectable bike considering all the freakin wind on the first half, then a marathon for which I have never done. Saw Kathy as I was coming in on my last 6 miles on Lagoon. She is amazing. Encouraging everyone she went past. Loved the LSU game on the TV cracked me UP!  Thanks to everyone for some great advice! Saw Daniel while we were waiting to get in the water, too!

go there and you can set up an email to notify when ready - or go to ASI web site in a few days - it usually only takes a few days to get them set.

Congratulations everyone! We are Ironmen! I wanted to thank everyone for all the advice and discussion. This forum was invaluable to me the past couple of weeks. Mostly, in letting my know I was, albeit crazy in this quest, certainly not alone! I really had a dream race at 11:54. And yes, I registered for next year. Happy R&R everyone! Anne

There are a few one or two cog shift hills in the back park, but it is pretty flat compared to the rest of the country.  Even on our group ride from Covington throgh Washington Parish has ALOT more hills.

I REALLY hope all the construction is 100% finished by next years race.  It has been going on for forever.

Congrats to all of you Ironman finishers!!!  I was there as a supporter/spectator this year and while I admit to being a little jealous watching you on the bike course (wishing I could be out there), I had a blast cheering you all on during the bike and run.  Sounds like many of you beat your time goals.  Way to go!  Rest well, recover well and then get back to training.

Congrats everyone!  I had a great time cheering you on and helping out all the ladies in the change tent.

My glutes now feel like I did a few hundred squats and lunges.

I have a question concerning the results...

The official results show 2,439 people starting the race but both the unofficial results and the participant list show 2,921.  Is the difference (482 people) the number of people who signed up but did not start?

Had a Blast at the Race. It was so much fun meeting everyone. I did not sign up for next year, as I already have 3 Ironman on my schedule. I would do this race again. The ocean swim was the best ! We left on Sunday and headed to Tampa. Went for a short bike ride today and long long walk on the beach. Fabulous weather here.

Last loop I said something to everyone or every group I passed. Glad you knew it was me...it helped me a lot with encouragement from others.

Way to smash your goal!

You can buy photos on line. They will send you a link based on email you used when you registered for the race last year.

I looked back at my bike splits last year and compared to this year. Timing mats were in same locations. Interesting how different times were. My average power was within 5 watts between the two years. Wind sure makes a big difference in speed in various parts of the course.

2010: 3:24:10, 2:29:41, 55:15
2011: 3:40:48, 2:14: 35, 59:13

Distance for each of three splits 55, 40, 17
