Subject: Feb. Goal Challenge

Ok, GA gang time to look at Feb.  I was going to let it alone and not post a Feb. Challenge, but we had over 1500 views and 5 pages of posts on the Jan. Challenge.  Seems like it helped kick start 2011 for some people.   So, let's try again.

This is NOT about comparing or out doing other people's stated goals.  Please re-frame from any posts or goal setting in this thread with that theme.  The stated purpose is to give everyone an opportunity to state a goal and use a little group motivation to keep you on track.  Again, the goal can be anything that will make you a better triathlete.  You define the goal and own it.

My Feb. goals:

Run 80 miles

Bike 350 miles

Swim 25000 yards

Core/Lifting 2 times per week

Feb goals.

Run 50 miles

OK, with a little bit more realism than last month, here are my Feb goals.

Run 125 miles
Bike 2x per week
Swim 1x per week

Get more sleep so I can do 1 hr activity per day.

I will repeat January's goals for February, but with the addition of a "+" next to each one.

Swim: 15,000+ meters
Bike: 500+ miles
Run: 100+ miles

Core/strength: 12 times
Weight: -4 (this will be the first time I've ever made a public weight loss goal but I'm thinking it is time to make a public commitment

Here we go....

Swim: 16 hours (same as Jan.)
Bike: 28 hours (same as Jan.)
Run: 10 hours (+6, injury free and build up to 2-3 hours per week of on-road volume)

Pretty simple, lots of high quality hour-long workouts and a handful of longer bike rides.  The Run will be tough if anything flares up but I've found Aqua Jogging is a decent substitute to maintain form.

I was going to say don't overdo it in the pool this month Doug!

 

Goals for me:

Masters 4x a week (1 "make up" swim at LTF if I can't make it all 4 times)

Bike-Improve FTP ~5-10 watts by next test

Run-100+ miles

I'm in!

Run: 80 miles

Bike: 300 miles

Swim: 6436 meters (4 miles)

I've got three races scheduled for February, two 10K's and one 15K.  That accounts for 21.7 run miles.  The lake has been drained for maintenance and our community pool is still covered for the winter.  I guess I'll checkout the local aquatic center to get in some swim time.

I'm in again, just not sure what I want to commit to.  January was great for swimming, core, stretching and yoga - I never would have done any of that without the challenge.

OK, I'm going with -

8 days of masters (1 makup solo swim allowed)
10 days of core
8 days of yoga/stretching

And I'm going to try for another 4 pounds.

But my biggest goal is to survive Red Top!
