Although I have not signed up yet, I plan on being at this one, its a great way to benchmark between each year since this is where I started!

Hmm that just means I need to be out of the water first, because then you are not ahead of me on the bike!  Hope your getting your training in!  Looking forward to a rematch!

Season starts May 7 with a sprint, then Knoxville Oly the following weekend, will be interesting not having New Bri as my first race.

Signed up and ready to race. Wondering how many hills we will all face on the bike portion. Would love some feedback.

I will be there!

I remember a couple of hills, but nothing monstrous...  I see on my race report that I describe "a few smalls hills and one big one"

There are a few short climbs on the bike, but nothing really intimidating.

The real torture hill comes about 1/4 mile into the run.  It's a horrible place for a hill!!

Last year was my first time at New Brighton.  The one piece of advice I have is to know the bike course...last year the volunteers at some intersections were not alert at giving bikers good directions in turns.  Cutting way back on my race schedule this year so may not go back for this one.  Good luck.

I am guessing cold.  It's pretty early season for a race. Although, the lake isn't huge so fingers crossed it will be manageable. I am sure it will be in the 60s, although hopefully high 60s.

I am not sure what a Velo Vie looks like, but I will be looking!  I will have the coolest white/silver Planet X with a hot pink bento box.   Oh yeah, and look for the chubby girl probably with pigtails   I am also planning to be nearer the bike exit.  Last time I was close to the beach and while my T1 was great, my T2 wasn't a contender.  I might shoot for something in the middle before the bottleneck.

Our own Emily (BikerGrrrl) got some props on MNTriNews site!

Some of the girls who should battle for Top 10 spots include Oakdale Du champ, Hilary Patzer; two-time Top Fiver here, Diana Koepp; 2009 runner-up, Jessica Deegan; Tiffany Lindstrom, who is no stranger to the Top 10 here; 2010 Lake Minnewaska Tri winner, Julia Lyng, who was 4th here in 2010; Green Lake Sprint '10 winner, Jill Ellenbecker; as well as Tina Welzien, Kathryn Jensen, Lindsay Palmer, Susan Hilal, EmilyWaitz and Marlene Hull.

When asked about it, Emily was quoted as saying, "Jerry is going to be very disappointed although I am flattered ".

We all know different Emily - you will rock it!

Thanks Eric   I posted a comment for Jerry letting him know that his algorithm was very wrong in my case, but that I would do my best.

Racers:  I drove the course today and was reminded of one tricky turn worth mentioning.  There's a flat section when you are riding with Lake Johanna on your left.  When you see a park, you will shortly be turning right on County Rd E.  This is a fairly sharp turn AND you will be going straight up a hill.  It goes up until you reach New Brighton Blvd and turn left.  When I see that park I plan to shift into my small ring, it's steep enough for me.

I can't remember the name of the park (darn!) but if you look at the bike map, it's the section that says"1 lap".  The top part of that loop is the hill.

I opted to do this one instead of the bike traffic jam that is Buffalo. I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully we can have a gorgeous day for it. I looked at the bike course and saw one nasty turn (way more than 90 degrees)..... is that the one you talk about on the hill? If so, then I can definately see why it would be a tough one.

Fortunately that turn is actually flat.  You go up the hill, left down NB Blvd, THEN take the very hard left (practically a U turn) back onto Lake Johanna Blvd to complete the loop.
