Alright everyone, I thought I would start this up since I have not seen one yet. I like being able to keep track of everyone, and a bit of personal accountability from peers never hurt either.

Here is what I want to hit for mileage in March

Bike - 450 miles
Run - 90-100 miles
Swim - 40000 m

Of course I am going to talk to Coach Dan first to see how he feels about it, but I think I am more than capable of hitting it.

What does everyone else have in mind for goals?

You better nail that Daniel! EC representing at IMCDA...

The danger in a volume only approach to monthly goals is it doesn't reward quality, which to me is an invaluable part of the training load equation. However, you could partial it out, but its a POA. Regardless, the volume approach was helpful last month so I am back in.

Provided Shanks and my old body allows, I'm looking to top February 2011 totals:
Bike:31h 41m 26s  - 628.77 Mi
Run:21h 20m 51s  - 160.47 Mi
Swim:9h 45m 15s  - 27900 Yd
Strength:5h 20m

Last year I threw down the following in August, which is roughly the equivalent distance from my IM as is March is to the June IM this year. Thus I will be trying to hit these numbers too:

August's totals:
Bike:40h 29m 10s  - 803.76 Mi
Run:16h 08m 04s  - 123.78 Mi
Swim:14h 31m 33s  - 32090 Yd

No way am I going to throw down the 17 hrs per week that phat is doing.

Run - 100 miles?  I'm tapering and then racing so that may be a stretch.  If it's less, no big deal.
Bike - 2x per week without fail.  Would prefer 3x per week but that would mean trainer time.
Swim - 1x per week

No wussing out and skipping a workout because of a tough day the day before.

I am kind of ashamed about all of those hours but I do have an IM in June with a taper due in about 12-13 weeks! Plus I don't want to be crying on the side of the road in Idaho like a baby with a wet diaper. EEK

I am already in the 15-16 hour a week club so let's see what I can come up with for March.

Swim-40k + (3x a week @ 4000 yds/meters should take care of that)

Bike-4x a week with one quality long bike and long brick bike (~600 miles)

Run-4-5x a week to include a track session and long run

Race-Publix Half Marathon-1:25 goal

I'm planning on a strong March, since there will be no training for 2-3 weeks in April.

ST (in lieu of swimming): 15 hours
Bike: 500 mi
Run: 110 mi
Stretching: 5 hours

I'm also going for an OA win at a 5 mi (foot) race on the 27th, regardless of who shows up. There, I said it.

I'm in again for March.  I'll leave my goals the same as last month though since February was a miss.

Run - 80 miles
Bike - 300 miles
Swim - 4 miles

I'm hopeful that I'll do better on the bike this month.

OK, goal not volume or intensity driven, that takes care of itself.  Mine is still to form the wake up early habit.

3x - 5:15am sessions per week

So I bit on this in January as a beginner wanting to get into shape but then fell off the wagon with work / family / school / personal commitments all piling on me at once.

So March is a redo and we are setting some beginner style goals.

1.  Run/Walk 20 workouts for at least 40 miles
2.  Complete 1.5 mile PT Test in under 12:00
3.  Lose 5 pounds (from 235)
4.  Get on Bike (at least 5 workouts)
5.  Complete my first 5-K
6.  Start / Stick With 100 Pushup Program

With better weather and some staffing issues being resolved at work, hopefully I will meet these goals this month and stick with it.

How is everyone looking? We are at the halfway mark, so hopefully everyone is halfway to their month goal.

Bike: 10h 20m 01s - 181.91 Mi
Run: 6h 13m 31s - 40.57 Mi
Swim: 4h 10m - 12900 M

I am nowhere near close....need to get on the ball and quit fooling around

2011 March's totals:
Bike:18h 11m 06s  - 380.25 Mi
Run:10h 34m 30s  - 79.29 Mi
Swim:5h 53m  - 17900 Yd

Swim and bike are on target (after tomorrows 60 mile ride) and run is a bit behind. I can live with where I am at. Due to a slightly strained left hammy I have been on an adaptation week which hurts volume but allows me to heal before the onslaught Shanks is bringing next week and alluded to earlier this week.

Would've liked a few more miles/yards, but who wouldn't? I hit the goals generally that I set forth in the March Challenge. Hope you had a good month too. My body is holding up nicely and fitness is coming along. The volume doesn't speak to the quality either. Shanks has been throwing a fair bit of that my way too.

March Goals v. Actual

Bike: 2x per week8h 22m 44s  - 129.18 Mi
Run:  100 miles?17h 34m 04s  - 110.68 Mi
Swim: 1x per week3h 32m  - 10772.09 Yd

So, I did OK on the run, just behind on the bike and missed some swims.

April will be bike-focused and a LOT of it or I will be the one crying by the side of the road like a baby (only in Knoxville and Wisconsin).
