As far as the medical field goes they don't recommend running since it reduces life span of implant, but they don't totally say no. Thanks for your reply! I'm sure if you look long enough you'll find someone with an artificial hip who has done an Oly if not an IM. You can also find people who are in wheelchairs. Ancedotal stories shouldn't be the basis for making a medical decision in your individual situation. You need to consult with your doctor, understand the risks, and then make your own decision.
