Subject: Yanti's going to cry like a TV commercial Indian...

Today I decided to go for a run.  I know, I know, not exactly big news in these parts, but I'm not a fan of pounding the pavement.  I bike and swim a lot.

A few days ago I went out and limped out about 4.5 miles or so. The end was easier than the start so today I told myself I was either calling it quits earlier or doing more. I set out on a longer route than I've been taking to kinda force the issue.

I find all kinds of the usual in the road and on the sidewalk.  Bottles, cans, caps, candy wrappers and so forth, but today I came across something a little different.

Lying in the middle of the sidewalk was something light brown, about 3x6 inches.

OMG, yes, in the middle of the sidewalk was ......

was....

a

PopTart!

It was glazed with sprinkles too. What a waste.

Just a little chunk broken off the corner. Obviously uneaten.  If I'd been even remotely hungry I'd have been tempted.

Oddly enough, later in my run I came across a bag of what may or may not have been some Mary Jane.  I must have ran that loop backwards, found the muchies first...

Wasted food of any kind is a tragedy! I wonder if Yanti would have "rescued" it?

The pop tart I can see not picking up (I may burn in heck for stating this but I don't particularly like them) but the 2nd item you just left?  Cool

There was a PSA anti-littering campaign decades ago that became something of a cliche.

Didn't he turn out to be italian american, not native american?

If you can believe wikipedia, snopes, and my own aging memory, that is.

The funny part is

A: Mythbusters de-bunked the 5 second rule.

B: The "Indian" in the commercial is actually an Italian guy.

I will have a moment of silence this morning for the poor pop tart..

Pop Tart??? WASTED POP TART?

Eric, you fool,I'm not crying for the pop tart -- I'm virtually beating you up because you LEFT a perfectly good pop tart!!!

Heh. Was it lying on/in its foil wrapper, or was it completely naked there on the road? 'cause that would be a tough call.

Maybe if you brought it back home, Yanti would have been able to revive it with a *MelonPress*.

Actually, I probably would have murdered it to near-charcoal in the toaster, you know, to get rid of the germs

I'd rather eat a nearly-blackened pop tart than a raw one, actually.

I confess, plenty of times I have taken and consumed discarded gels I found, if they were still intact.

Has anyone here tried swimming after hitting on Mary?  You might be surprised that you might be a bit faster than your usual swim time and form is a bit better because you are more relaxed.  Plus, you might have more time to think about your stroke because everything goes soooooooo  sloooooooowwwww...

It’s not been a good week for Pop-Tarts. I noticed the other day that the Pop-Tart store near Times Square in NYC has closed after only being open for a short time.

Yes, there was an entire store dedicated to Pop-Tarts. If only it had been in Indonesia, it would probably still be open.

A requiem for the Pop Tarts ...

Okay, believe it or not, I sent not one, but *TWO* minions to the Pop Tart store (all the way from Indonesia). It was to my great chagrin by the time they got there, the store was not even selling actual Pop Tarts anymore, just Pop Tart gear (what is the POINT? It's like going to a 'gentlemen's club').

While running today, I saw a wrapped, dove chocolate on the side of the path. I really thought about stopping and eating it. I thought even more about it on the return trip. In fact, I am still thinking about that chocolate. Probably should have eaten it.

Well, Yanti laid a bit of a guilt trip on me for leaving a Pop-Tart sitting on the sidewalk.

Watch for part 2 of the story....Wink

Less than 5 seconds stop, more than 5miles go.  Dropped gels?  How can anyone drop something as sticky as a gel pack.

So what is the proper disposal etiquette when one finds a Pop Tart on the side of road? Should it be buried with 21 gun salute or funeral pyre?

Yanti, please let me know in case I ever run across a PopTart during an S.B.R
