Champion 8903 | Subject: TypeA vs Max at Cranberry OK, here's the lowdown on last year's race results for the Cranberry Country Oly triathlon: TypeA Girl Pilot: (Swim) 25:31 (T-1) 4:11 (Bike) 1:27:06 (T-2) 1:44 (Run) 1:00:27 (Total) 2:58:57 Max: (Swim) 26:14 (T-1) 3:23 (Bike) 1:09:16 (T-2) 1:56 (Run) 1:07:08 (Total) 2:47:55 What I see is TAGP is one year older but looks 5 years younger. She'll probably gain a minute in T-1 over last year's time. She gripes about being a Max, on the other hand, is one year older but feels 5. He may gain 30 seconds in T-1 if he doesn't waste time like last year peeing in his wetsuit. Also last year he smoked the bike and it looks unlikely that he'll repeat that. He figures on losing 3 minutes here. And since he runs with his new cement sneakers, his run time will probably be around 1:09. That puts him in the 2:51:00 / 2:52:00 area. The only saving grace is that we won't be starting in the same swim wave, so I won't have to put up with the humiliation of getting passed 10 yards from the finish line by the blazing hot TAGP. But she probably will end up having bragging rights for the next 12 months. Stay tuned! Edited by max 2005-08-24 7:06 AM |

Why wait until T1? LOL...it's a recurring theme...I did the same thing at Lake Placid, much to the consternation of a volunteer who witnessed it all as I ran through transition! I was probably one of those babies who peed the moment his mom took his diaper off to change it...just never out-grew it! |

Jesus, you can pedal backwards and STILL beat my bike split by 20 minutes! Bwaaahaaaahaaaaa......if I were you, I wouldn't step away from your rack space in the transition area once you're set up!! Online or Offline | Subject: RE: TypeA vs Max at Cranberry Not that I really cared to have a handicap, but there's gotta be some sort of formula to go by to determine a handicap like that Lifetime Fitness Tri. Or did they just pull that out of their asses? To consider: The bike leg being the longest distance, and max having been a competitive cyclist for years. This is my second year on a road bike. Last year max rode ~16 min faster on the course than me. Twenty five miles with a difference of 16 minutes. Max hates running. I tolerate it. I ran the 10K ~7 min faster than max last year. Six miles with a difference of 7 minutes. For all intents and purposes we'll call the swim leg even. So if the cosign equals the adjacent divided by the hypotenuse, what's the handicap? And is there extra points for creative sabotaging of the transition areas? What's at stake? |

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: TypeA vs Max at Cranberry Oh geez...I knew you'd come in at the 11th hour looking for a gift. Tell you what, I'll give you 5 minutes, and that's being mighty generous of me. See I figure I am past improvement on the bike and in actuality am probably on the downhill side of things, while you are getting stronger. It tears me to pieces to even offer that 5-minute bit of charity, but if I don't do it, I'll be vilified by glf33 for beating up on a girl. If this was a Sprint race, I might agree to put on a skirt and wig in transition and sort of "level the playing field" at least in the visual sense! And don't show up on Sunday with a "fake limp" and some sort of unbelievable excuse! LOL Edited by max 2005-08-24 1:13 PM |

I sent Gary a note to work those numbers and stats, but no answer yet...I think he's too scared to get into this one (he'll pay for this is if he's on your side)! OH, yeah, AND I did a Half Iron the Sunday prior. And during the week of my HIM taper I did a 15.6-mi long run. You should just let me win now, and sleep in on Sunday |

Frugal Gear Geek 2199 having fun with the kids | Subject: RE: TypeA vs Max at Cranberry trust me I will need the 20 minutes. I was being nice just to ask for 20. After Lowell, it took me 7 hours just to get back to some sense of normal. Do not remember much of those 7 hours. Went to work on monday but had to leave work early on tues for a massage. My calves were so toast I could not walk or stand. I left it all on the course in Lowell, but I have to keep in mind that I am racing in an A race two weeks latter. Lowell was quiet fast with few hills. I will take the 10 minutes just for the heck of it though. Will still shoot for an equal time in this race as in Lowell, but that is not likely, more like 3:20 is a realistic prediction, but you have thrown down the gauntlet and I except. BTW any type A personality would never in there right mind ask for a handycap. The old man is giving up plenty just by showing up. And if a 1/2 girl can't beat a full man I do not know what this world is comming to |

Online or Offline | Subject: RE: TypeA vs Max at Cranberry Hey Max, I'm in the wave after you, by 5 minutes. It'll kill me IF I see you in T1 briefly, watch you blaze away on the bike, then the whole run wonder if I'll ever catch up. I need to get my spies out on the course and give me updates! LOL LOL This is going to be the craziest race I've ever done...gonna be grinning my ass off and giggling the whole time trying to hunt you down! If anything, I should be able to come close to my dream goal of shaving up to 15 min. off of 2004! |
