!EMERGENCY UPDATE!
America's Cup registrant,
At 2:30pm this afternoon Union Reservoir conducted a an emergency water test due to the extreme rain we've been receiving over the course of this week. After last night's storm the results came in at 3:30pm. The maximum allowed e-coli levels are 235 parts per million, the level at Union Reservoir have jumped to 955 parts per million
(4x the maximum limit
). Your health and safety are paramount and we could never put you the athlete in an unsafe water environment.
America's Cup - Over the course of the last hour the Colorado race director community and USAT have banded together to help put together a back up plan. We'll be running the 5k at 9:00am at Union Reservoir
(30min earlier than scheduled
) in your prescribed waves. You'll receive a chip time for you 5k result. At that time all athletes will head to Grant Ranch - 7255 Grant Ranch Boulevard in Lakewood, Co 80123
We'll have PRINTED directions for everyone on site tomorrow
We'll still be conducting a 1-mile open water swim at Grant Ranch in your prescribed waves starting at 12:30. After the conclusion of the swim your 5k time will be merged with your run time for a combined overall event time.
Please use your twitter, facebook, etc to alert friends who might not be checking e-mail.
We apologize for this situation, but I hope you all understand that your safety/health come first and we're doing everything possible to keep the integrity of the event intact.
USAT Qualifying Info: USAT has been in communication with ITU and the combined swim & run time will qualify you for Team USA
If you're racing the Summer OPEN Tri on Sunday: We'll be running a duathlon
(2 mile run / 12.4 mile bike / 3.1 m run
). More info will follow on the triathlon changes.
We are again truly sorry, but given the unprecedented events this is the best and only solution we're able to construct in the given time window. We want to thank Pete Alfino of Mile High Multisport for his extreme help this afternoon helping putting together plan "B".
