Later today: retirement party that's going to be rockin'...I may even have a drink or three! Have a beautiful training/race day everyone! |

Still strong at the end of the run and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Now I hope that carries over to my swim. |

I have a tri tomorrow and this rain is making my lake colder. Dislike! Today I have a 20/10 briquette scheduled, but I'm not committed to it. Mostly, I need to grade papers, tidy up around the house and pack for tomorrow. |

Master 1970 Somewhere on the Tennessee River | Subject: RE: 5.21.11 Sunny Saturday! 10K this morning at a leisurely pace. Have the Cotton Row run in 9 days. I signed up for the 10K so I wanted to make sure I can do the distance a week or so out. Will taper on the run this week, and maybe the bike, but not the swim.
Today is as near a perfect day as can be and a prevue of summer. The sun's out, there a nice breeze, and the flora is as lush as it can be be. Can we say "verdant?" Will break out the barbecue and roast a chicken, beer can style. Throw in some salad and some side greens and a loaf of french bread and voila, and oo la la, je reve que je suis a Paris au printemps. Spent my only CO2 figuring out how to use my CO2 pump and called for a ride back to my car. Decided that my day was over and I will get back out there tomorrow. |

Kept an 8:15 pace for the first 2.5 miles then fell off to a 9:00-920 pace. Solid workout, realized that I can push through and do more than i thought. at about the 1 mile mark, i was regretting that I opted for a 5 mile vs 3 mile run, at the 2.5 mile mark my quads started barking at me, had a brief 30 second walk break, and then powered through.  |

Not bad for having a 20mph sustained wind (man, have I mentioned how much I *hate* that?). But it is a sunny and beautiful day. I'll see how the spirit carries me later, might do a 5k for the hell of it. |

Then we went out to watch our town's biggest race: the Pole Pedal Paddle. We had a good time and got to watch the first 10 or so finishers come in and we saw a lot of my friends out there competing. To bad it was rainy and dreary. |

Calves were super tight this morning for no particular reason and every pedal stroke was agony. I hate bad rides. Fortunately, they happen rarely, but they still really suck when they do happen. |
