HMM, decision time, the wife has signed off on it lololol.
Last year when I got my tri bike I got #3 on my list. #1 they didn't have my size left, I try to buy at the end of the year to get a good deal. #2, could have got it, but got #3 for $700 cheaper.
I ended up with a Kestrel Talon which is a nice bike and I really do like it overall. It has been a great bike but it is a tad too big, not much, but a little, and it also is kind of a hybrid tri/road bike, they use the same frame for the talon road bike, just differant stem, seat post etc.
Right now I'mm riding it with an Adamo and it is as far forward as it can possibly get, and on top of that I'm still sitting towards the tip of the saddle. Cockpit is good, juts wish it could go lower, (it can I'd just have to spend more money.
At the time I got a great price on it, about 25% off retail, aand since it was so much cheaper than the Airfoil, i wne t with it.
So I'm at a fork in the road, stick with the Talon, I have no problem doing this, or get the Airfoil for cheaper than what I got the Talon for (even though msrp is quite a bit higher, maybe 1k.) Another thing about the Airfoil is it is built with SRAM Rival, I've never had SRAM components before, but looks like the Rival line is probably in line with the Shimano 105 I have now. Also the Airfoil comes with a rear wheel I could add a wheel cover too, the shimano wheels on the talon do not allow that.
So decision time, get the Airfoil, and sell the Talon, or just keep going on the Talon and work on the engine. Either way I'll be working on the engine, and I would maybe break even, worst case lose one or two hundred on the sale of the talon, not a big deal considering the upgrade.
HMMM.
