Just got off the phone with my wetsuit manufacturer - gave me the go-ahead to trim the neo around my adam's apple, without affecting my warranty - yeah!!! No more feeling like I can't breath in the water. Wait, maybe that was the washing machine effect + my nerves

Hm, hadn't thought of that one before.

Doesn't matter how many tris I do, and how often I - OW swim in my wetsuit (most of my training is OW in the Sea of Cortez), I still feel choked 5 minutes in, on the water race morning.

Would hate to hack up an expensive wetsuit, but I might take a 2nd look there in the apple area...

I have a few 'aches and pains' as well. Mostly though I have wierd food wants. I never eat cold cereal. Never. But the other night I had this out of control desire for Rice krispies. I went to the store and bought some, ate probably half the box and it was divine. Then I realized today that I 'need' to stop at the store and get the biggest box of RK's that I can find. Nothing else sounds good at all.

Maybe I'll get two boxes.

Stop! I'm already in a battle to control all of my eating urges and you're making it really hard because I looooove cold cereal. Now that I think of it, I think we have some Rice Krispies in the pantry ...

It was taken by the professional photographers we had at the ZOOT camp. I think I should add a cape...

Love it.  RK cereal rocks.  Half pound of sugar and some fruit on it too.

If you clock a 9:30 next Saturday and finish as one of the top AGers, a cape is a must.

Forecast looking a little more manageable today - 86 on weather.com and 88 on accuweather. Wonder when we'll know what the winds will be like?

Haven't posted much the last few months (being that I am a mere mortal and all) just wanted to say THANKS to everyone- it's been a blast following the Beginnner Tri IM Training Plan (to a tee) and "listening" to your posts.  I too feel that I will win my age group, mine is just very specific- "45 year old Financial Services Recruiters that live in Irvine, CA doing their first IM",  I'm all over that!  Seriously, someone asked me the other day if I was ready and I honestly had to say "yes".  Part of that is due to the motivation I got and the connection to having this forum, so, THANKS!!!!!

Bryan - Given the talk of wearing a cape with your kit, I think you've got #6 on this list covered:

they are saying winds out of the north for race day- would that mean we would have a tailwind going up 18 out of Veyo?  Is that possible?  Don't know the area well enough to know trends- when I trained on the course we had a stiff headwind going up 18 and I assumed that was pretty normal.

Normally winds are out of the south, south west this time of year, but it's possible. Based on the heat, which is pretty much assured at this point, we are heading into the 100's this week, winds should be calm in the morning, picking up in the afternoon. That's common for the desert during the summer. So best advice? Get off the bike as fast as you can.

I rode with some local guys today and we had north winds. Geez, I sure hope we don't get those race day. Its in your face all the way uphill until the Wall, then you get a push... which is nice. But at the top, "nice" ends and its a full headwind into Veyo. I thought this was the hardest part of the ride, top of Wall to Veyo... in a north wind anyway.

Back into St George, there's a couple places where you're getting wind in your face again. Not sure how this happens since its in your face all the way up. By then you're done with major climbs though, so no big deal.

There are a couple corners you make in the Gunlock reservoir area where you come around the canyon wall and its pushing against you so hard, really surprises me. Be ready for those.

The only upside, all your competition will be having a hard time too. I tell you though, no way I'm looking for a north wind on game day. The one little push up the Wall  isn't worth the other 25 miles of headwind.

I also got to see a local rider in action and his German buddy today... friggin fast. I don't know if they're in my AG, but those who are with Kona slot hopes... good luck!

If you think we American AG'ers are just going to let German dudes show up and poach Kona slots, you are mistaken, good Sir!

Now that you mention it, the wind you describe is exactly the way my coach said it set up last year. In far when I rode the course in Jan. I had to fight a fierce and steady wind once on top of the climb to Vejo.
