Thanks Ron! Loving this site. I love the goal ideas too! I have used goal setting a lot this last year and has really helped. It makes it even better when you can make it public!~ That was the reason for my web site :-)

I'm new to this site and just getting into my tri training, but just wanted to say I really like the training log section and hope it will prove a great tool for me to track my progress.

I'm just wondering if the HR section is meant to be a % or absolute number - could it be possible to enter a zone eg 65-75%? I also like the idea of the goals section mentioned earlier. Keep up the good work.

Thanks

Hey Ron, I thought of something else that would be nice. An entry field for morning resting heart rate, similar to the daily weight field. Sorry to add to your list. :-(
Thanks for all the hard work.

hr is, i guess, an average for the session...but i need to add max hr and i need to incorporate hr zones into it as more and more people use this for training.  for now, just put that data into your comments...i will be talking to my programmer come the new year on a list of updates and add-ons and this will surely be part of it.

yeah, i will be adding some log data to the effect of rating your waking hr, sleep qaulity, stress, fatigue and muscle soreness and having this be on a scale...if u rate any of these below a certain level, is a good indicator to cut back on training...this data would be graphed too.  good call

Love all the new stuff to the site. Two quick notes under user listings is there any way that you can sort by location. I occasionally scan the list for other new members looking to network with others in my area. I was thinking even if under user profile if a state or area ie North East would allow a quick sort to look for others in my general area. Also speeking for myself, I would be willing to toss a few bucks in for your cost in upgrades. I have used shareware products with volintary contrabutions and I see no reason that you might not think of this for your sight. Please keep up the great work.

that should be easily doable.  it would be a great blog integration...or another link at the top...or in user listing...

yeah, been doing a lot of thinking on how to keep the upgrades aggressive, free and break even so my wife doesn't kill me.   i have a lot of 'touch-ups' to do and have some great ideas from u all that i would love to implement.  its your site...would love to have ALL the featrues that u would want.

next update or 'fixer' i think i will have an area for 'donations' or something like that....see how it goes.  maybe become a non-profit agency?  donate a % to charity???  what r your thoughts?

Not sure on the non-profit statis. I think a quick check with a tax accountant when you do your filling may be in order. Some how the term "gift" may also work, Not sure. I personally see the site worth a contribution. Many small ones do add up. The other thing is even if the site becomes a "buisness" I think the IRS allows up to 5 years of opperatting at a loss before a profit must be shown. You know how fickel tax codes can be. Good luck.

I like the color-coded calendar view, it let's you see your rest/work days at a glance. But if you make notes on your rest days, it looks like you trained. How about a button to let you declare a rest day, so you can make notes on your body, nutrition, etc but still have it show the 'no training' color in the mini calendar?

Also, I'd go along with the voluntary contribution as well. This site is worth it.

AHHH....i got it...thought u were talking about the big calendar...yeah...i see what your saying...i can have it a certain color for just comments...i hope to have the next round in a month or so with actual new feautures and not 'touch-ups'....i will get it then...good call.

Graphing

Ron – now I’ve got over my “wow that looks great” phase is it possible to change the graphs? The stacked bars work fine for total exercise but I would love it if it could all be line graphs so that average distance or time can be tracked. Alternatively could it be done as an option to do normal bars instead of stacked.

Just throwing it out there – feel free to tell me where to get off and/ or do my own damned graphs

that had crossed my mind too...it should be no problem to have lines also...

BUT having normal bars...assuming one graph for each bar = 3 graphs x2 (distance & duration) = 6 graphs equals a lot more money than 2 stacked bar graphs...for now...even if they were side by side then u couldnt fit a lot of data on one graph.

- i will def do the lines...that should be easy...i will check on the other stuff...price/wise and put it on 'the list'...we will get to it...hopefully as we keep building, u will have lots of graph choices to choose from to suit your needs...i just did the stacker initially for expenses sake.

Then how about a combo graph – lines for the individual and a bar for the total? Just shooting ideas here – that way anyone can see the totals and the individual as well.

Its not worth doing it if it incurs extra expense.

I think I’d prefer lines because its easier to track and see progress at a glance (such as the average pace one). But I’m just one person. Others may see it differently

could work...i will see what we can do...

BUT we must incur some expenses!   if its cool and useful then it must be done...

anyways, i have a few ideas to help defer some costs and keep aggressive updates/new features and not NEVER have banner advertisements inside..will try donations or voluntary contributions...will go directly to the logs and new stuff.  should have it up in a week or two.

I’ll be guinea pig if ya like! Bear in mind that I’ll be traelling next week so may not be around all the time! Like not at all for a week.

A week without access!!! Arrrrrrrrrr. How will I live? I’ll actually have to write stuff down!!! With a PEN!

I run a site as well and I hear you about the cost.
Try – contributions, ads (not popup!!), stuff for sale – either ask people to throw old stuff to you to sell so that a few of us newbies could get started cheaper or sell it and donate the profits to the site or a % of stuff sold on here.
Also try making it a premium site – everything is free but after 30 days of trila then the blogs / logs / graphs need a contribution to keep them going.
There will hopefully be enough people willing to pay in order to keep it at break even. As long as you are open and honest with people then they will respond.

Good luck!

never ads (except the few links already their) - no premium 30day trial site...although i commend u for the ideas!

only 100% PURE FREE!!!!

the only reason i started this site was to give people the tools FREE to get started....my philosophy (yawn) is to give people every means possible to help beginners stay motivated and going for their goal.....to complete a tri AND stay motivated to make it a lifestyle...being healthy will impact not just yourself BUT the lives of all other around u...they will get the bug too...turn their life around...get the world healthier...and to support one of the soon to be greatest communities in the world where we can share thoughts, training, motivation and make a lot of freinds...this is priceless.

BUT yes, we will be starting to sell gear very soon and accepting 'voluntary contributions' to support the continued developement of the training logs/forum and the site...i think we have an awesome group of people here!  i know we will all succeed along with bt.  i have my utmost confidence in all of your support.  we will become household name someday (soon?) and u all already have a part in that...thanx for the support i have read so far.  sky is the limit.

Ron once again I love this site and what it has done for my dream to realty experiance. Just a word of caution. Do not allow your dedication to lead to burnout. I belive I read that you have an expeanding family along with other obligations. I have belonged to a few groups with great vision and intent, only to be disapointed when the visionary burnded out and was unable to continue. As much as I love the updates and the site as a whole please pace yourself and know that your dream of a great web site has all ready been accomplished. Tweeking and fine tuning is great but not at your personal financial, family or physical (saccrificing training) expence. Just remember: Tortice say...slow and steady win race.

I noticed on someone's log that they had their short term and long term goals listed- how can I use this feature?
P.S. Your contribution to the lives of all of the people who use this site to support themselves in pursuing their passion and goals is beautiful and much appreciated.
This site and everything it provides is as much a part of my training as the running biking and swimming. Thank you
