Rookie mistake and lesson learned today! (Page 2)

As an added bonus, the latex gloves can double as backup hand warming gloves.  I've used them under my perfectly nice full-finger gloves which seemed more than warm enough - until I was ten miles from home on a day slightly cooler than I thought.  Your hands end up sweaty, but warm.

I picked up a small hand pump for my seat bag for this very reason.  I was about 40 miles from home riding on roads covered in broken beer bottles and realized if I double flatted I was screwed.  At least with a patch kit and a hand pump you can keep pumping up the tires until you get home.  THe pump I bought also doubles as a co2 inflator so it really is mulitpurpose.

I carry a patch kit and a very small pump. I can fix like 10 punctures before I'm SOL.

After too many tiny wire flats I keep a cotton ball in my kit for running around the inside of the tire. It will find anything poking through.
