Picture from Luke McKenzie's blog showing Lieto on left and Crowie on right training. After comparing tope tube, seat stays and some other small geometry specs from the angle I am almost positive this is the Shiv which Crowie is sporting!

Thanks to the angle of that pic it's not the bikes I'm staring at.

Nope. It's fine.

Nevermind.

Not sure what that is but now I am sure what it isn't.

But what is it about *the bikes* that makes you think this?

Orbea has been talking about a new bike for some time now that has never really materialized... could this be it?! It would kind of make sense since Crowie did sign a long term (lifetime?) contract with Orbea...

What makes you say that?  It looks like the same P4 that he was riding earlier to me.

Neither the shiv or the p4 have curved seat stays like that. Also that bike is missing the goofy little seatmast airfoil. But, I couldn't tell ya what it is.

While the bling on the pro's bikes in somewhat interesting, the particulars of WHAT they ride is totally irrelevant to me.

I think we'll learn in the next few days that the key issue here is effective seat tube angle- the seat tube angle the rider is sitting at as opposed to the seat tube angle of the frame, and also the front end geometry- head tube height and head tube angle, fork rake and trail.

These factors do influence athlete's performance tangibly.

What we will see on the pier in Kona is going to be reflective of that, and has forced some companies to do some new thinking.

I'll suggest it is more about geometry and position than about brand and model- and that is what is being flushed out here over the previous 16 weeks.

Looks to me to be a Cervelo made bike just due to the paint scheme. Not the same one he rode in Vegas though. If you set the pic in this thread as your background, you can better see the differences. I can not read what it says on the top tube.

Cervelo definitely.  Those stays are very similar to a P2....but with integrated brakes.

Why's he out riding with no water bottles?  Especially when Lieto has two....looks like a test drive to me.

I bet he has 2. One between the bars and the one on the seat.

Personally I don't think it is a Cervelo.  My WAG is that it is a Specialized.  New Shiv or new model.

If not a Specialized my second guess would be an Avanti.

Here is a link to a higher res version of the pic.  http://www.lukemckenzie.com/news.php

With that said the two bottles, one rear and 2nd between aero bars does sound like a Cervelo

I honestly have no idea what you are trying to say here; I understand you are trying to discuss tribike geometry and how the bikes are built but I don't see what it has to do with the OP.

Also, fleshed out vs flushed out.
