How come they never found  an  RV dealership and buy (borrow) a brand new top of the line RV.

Good for the little kid on finding the knives and hatchet.

It was ok for the first show of the season......

According to the zombie survival guide - steel crowbar is the close combat weapon of choice.

- good for hitting, light weight and good tool to open doors, windows, cars and such.

It would have been funny if the weapon kit dead guy looked like Dexter. Although Dexter could never be killed by zombies....but still. Crazy ending as well. Not cool at all.

  1. x2, didn't like the ending but the rest was pretty good.  And no way Dexter would be killed by Zombies or lose out to any virus.
  2. Ok, the little girl probably would be attracted to the church bell, so why not call out for her since noise was made via bell and thrashing in the church.
  3. Also, never never get Zombie blood on your face around your mouth or eyes.
  4. Why is it Zombies walk lethargic and drag their feet yet at times they have burst of speed to attack?  I would bet if it came to be, they would actually not be slow as beleived, brain dumb yes, but rampage crazy fast.
  5. Last, I understand their desire to feed is for pure cyclists since triathletes are more nimble.  But the taste is probably more like granola vs triathletes taste more like GU.

Thoroughly enjoyed the first episode. Good drama. The character moments (Rick's soliliquey in the church) as well as the new zombie "herds" to liven things up on an otherwise dead road...all quite enteraining to me with just the right amount suspense mixed in.

The end had my wife screaming and I was none to happy with it but you had to know something was going to happen...just can't wait to see how this turns out next week.

Overall I enjoyed it.  One small thing that I noticed was the crucifix in the baptist church.  Don't see that too often

I felt it kinda dragged in the middle a bit, almost nodded off. My heart was racing at the start though when they had to hide!! *gulp*  Cannot wait for next week. Although I need to start DVRing it as it's on way past my bedtime   It just completely sucks you in!

One thing I wondered about during the herd scene. Fishing hat man on the RV never said a peep. They just cut to him and he's face down on the RV. Never alerted them to the walker flashmob on the interstate that should have been visible for a mile away. Rick did it all after seeing it first by naked eye, then by scope.

actually if you watch that part again the guy in the RV is up there with spyglasses and sees 1 first and alerts rick to it, whom you then see scoping it with his rifle. I can understand why no one called out though. If the guy on the RV called out his RV would have been surrounded. I want to know why they hid on the ground under cars vs. all climbing on the RV or other large vehicles to hid. Better protection up high and easier to look and make sure the coast is clear when it is time to get down.

At that point they were all kind of spread out looking inside cars for supplies, I think hiding under vehicles at that point was their only chance.  I totally gagged though when T-Dog cut his arm. The special effects are outstanding, especially all the noises when their cutting the guy open *bouk*

I commented on that as well - I thought only Catholics had the whole bloody body on their crosses in church (though I am by no means an expert on protestant customs).

Just had time to watch tonight.  Looks like it's going to be a good season.  Regarding best weapon for a Zombie attack, I am going with the shotgun and firefighters halligan tool.  Typicallly bundled with an Ax and the first tools off the truck..

I'll come out and say it; I was disappointed. It had two solid points in the show, the beginning and the end; the middle was just a muddle of boring drama, not the good drama that last year exhibited. I will continue to watch and hopefully see it improve, but it didn't seem to suck me in like last season.

Also, having carried a halligan (hooly for short) -for work- I would say that it does make a great tool and most likely great weapon, but compared to a crowbar it is very heavy. It would not be easy to lug around everywhere and due to the multipe faceted head you need a sling that will hold it in place without twisting so you don't accidentally spike yourself while walking.

I agree - that's why I have kept my ice axes around long after I last went ice climbing. Lighter and still fairly deadly. A bit short, though, raising the risk of getting within biting range, so more of a close quarters weapon against the undead.

Agreed about the weight, however, bundled with the ax in a sling and they are quite easy to manage and carry.  They also come in several sizes including some small enough to carry with a belt loop.  One of my former Captains had one of these and I often considered buying one but since I rode backwards I was too busy grabbing the irons, attack lines and ladders.
