Good morning!  Last day of Homecoming week for my school...can't wait for things to be back to normal. It's a fun week, but the kids are so wired, everything is so hectic.

4:30am:  60 mins/16.50 on the KK.  I'm back to feeling crappy, could barely keep my eyes open on the trainer.  Planning to get to bed as early as possible tonight!

One thing I am looking forward to is tonight's football game.  The cheerleaders do a mini clinic for elementary kids and they get to cheer at the game tonight.  Can't wait to see my dd...there is going to be a sea of girls with cute hairdos, pink bows and ribbons galore, and in the middle of all the pink will be my Liv rocking her blue tipped mohawk!  She's a character.

Have a great Friday and good luck to you racers this weekend!

Good Morning. I hope you enjoy the game and the chance to watch your daughter. Enjoy them while they're young, eventually they become teenagers...

Today looks like a ride home from work, about 30 miles when it is all said and done. Weather should cool down a bit this weekend, so I am looking forward to a long run on Sunday that doesn't involve me wondering why I do this outside and not on a treadmill. (BTW, I hate the dreadmill).

Enjoy the weekend. If you are racing, race well!

Congrats on surviving homecoming week! My easy/off day today, "only" ten hours of teaching, coaching the swim team, and 1200m of swimming. (Practice ends at 4:30, but some of the kids can't come until 4:30 or even 4:45 due to other committments, and the unspoken rule is that you show up and do as much of the workout as you can until the pool closes at five; I keep them company in the "how much can I swim before 5" game.)

5 hour ride

Blue tipped mohawk...sounds like she very much has her own style...she'll be easy to pick out.

Yay for normalcy soon, Kim!

Today I coached the football. I seriously get a workout with this. Chasing kids, chasing shanked balls, demonstrating, playing to even out the teams, whew!

TGIF, Lovlies! Enjoy. It's almost "Soccer Saturday" for me which means hours in the sun working on a farmer's tan. Woot!

Yaay, I am so happy it's Friday. Yesterday was a zoo, work was out of control. Didn't get to run and had a big family dinner, so went to the gym at 10pm and ran 7 miles on the treadmill. One plus for being OCD, I keep to my schedule

Core and a short bike ride today, just keep the legs limber. 20 miler tomorrow.

TGIF!!!

I've been following the Winter Maintenance - Run Focus plan to the letter so this morning was a 55 minute run (self check... yep, I still hate running) in the gorgeous sunshing (it's not all that often I get to say that while living in London!) and then core work later tonight.

5 mile run @ 0530.  Medium pace (9.11/m) as I'm starting to taper for my Oly Tri in 2 weeks.  First tri in 8 years!!

Getting ready for tomorrow's wicked ride up Mt. Lemmon to Windy Point Vista - should be a 35 mile RT with close to 4000' up and a fun 4000' down!

Have fun at homecoming! My son came in 2nd for soph royalty, he in no way wanted to win and has no clue how he was nominated.  I teased him all last week about possibly winning

I've stayed away from this thread too long. My allergies last week turned into a full on, kick me in the pants, cold. I had to toss out my long ride day last sunday. Finally felt well enough to get back on the bike on Wednesday. Did 12 miles on rain soaked fall leaves. For some reason, I love rainy fall bike rides.

Yesterday I did yoga in the morning, then work, then drive home from Chicago.

Today, I have to go into the bike shop this afternoon and replace the brakes on a mountain bike I sold so I can deliver it to the buyer. Then I'll go for a run while my daughter rides her bike.

My wife told me I have to take the dog mountain biking this weekend. I can't argue with that.

Almost slept in this morning, but couldn't let myself do that two days in a row!  Got up and out to the pool @ 5:30 for a short 1250 m.  AND since I slept in yesterday, I pushed through an unpleasant 4 mile run late yesterday afternoon.  This just reinforced what I already know...I MUCh prefer running in the morning! Smile

Taking my son to a Soapbox Derby this afternoon...he's so excited!

Looking forward to the "Take a Kid MTB Day" tomorrow morning.

Hope everyone has a GREAT weekend!

Completed.  Winds and hills together make for a much longer and tougher "fun" run.

Your daughter and my daughter sound like they'd definitely get along well!

Today I did my race simulation for my sprint coming next week.

I had caffeine for the first time in 4 months by way of Gu.  Nice little kick before my workout.

Bike: 1 hour total w/ 30 minute time trial in lots of wind with gusts.  Had my race wheels and wore my aero helmet (I always feel stupid wearing this no matter how many times I put it on - but it makes me go fast cause otherwise I just look sillier).  Happy with the average considering - can go harder in my sprint next Sat.

Run: Off the bike to a quick ~2 mile transition run at anticipated race pace of ~7:15ish for a couple miles.  Felt really good.  Had to stop a couple times to adjust my Zoot shoes (that's why I do these little simulations - so that race day everything is good to go).

I can't expect anymore than the above or complain at all considering I've only been training for 5 weeks!

Andi

Weighed in this morning and I am still four pounds away from ideal race weight and only 2 training days left until taper week begins.  Damn those temptations!

Well I bet when I finish the race I will be at ideal weight, does that count?

Unscheduled rest day for me.

Coming back to work from a lunch of registering my car and trying to visit a sick friend in the hospital (she was asleep) on the dirt road that I like to run on, I decided to try to drive through a dust cloud from a farmer plowing. Stupid idea. Another car was coming from the other direction with the same idea. Since two objects can't occupy the same space at the same time (or something like that). Collision. My first ever. Insurance adjuster has already called to tell me my car is totaled. Air bags deployed. Nose was bleeding horribly, still achy. My arms are burned from the air bag discharge, I guess.

Thankfully, I didn't have any of the kids with me.

I've replayed it over and over, and decided, apart from taking a different route back to work, I couldn't have avoided it. Even if I had stopped to wait for the plow to finish plowing, the dust cloud would have enveloped me and my car, and if the other car also continued through as he did, I would have been hit anyway. These dirt roads, even at their best, aren't wide enough for two cars to pass, without one running part way on the field.

What are the odds? I run that road almost every day and NEVER pass a car, let alone two passing me at the same time.

Only in Kansas. The Sheriff even said, "I suppose you were both driving down the center of the road, like we all do all of the time on these dirt roads." Sheesh.

So I'll be icing my face tonight and nursing my burns.
