Are you downtown? Do you want food, drinks, training? I can send you in the right direction...

Marriott Denver Tech Center.  I can see downtown though , and I've got a car.  Food recommendations would be great.

I've been there before and loved in!  That picture reminds me of how much I like it!  I wanted to move (I had a friend there) but I was in college and didn't want to switch colleges.

Awesome!  I think I would stick out like a sore thumb at first with my southern accent, but with time it would wear off!

I would keep the accent - you'd be an exotic fruit like a papaya. Actually I thikn there are only 14 people who are actually from Denver so you wouldn't be out of place with an accent. Everyone might think you're from Texas is all.

Please just don't ski like you're from Texas. No offense to the Texas folks out there, but some of your fellow statesman could stand a ski lesson or 7.

Agree 100%. If I never hear about another tragic lasso/ski lift incident it will be too soon.

Ooh- it would be fun to be like exotic papaya. I can't say I've ever been exotic before!  As for skiing I"m the first to admit that I suck.  I would need A LOT of lessons and I'm not kidding.

Drew, why are you sending out "that" picture.  Everybody in the world knows that was photo shopped.  Here's Denver really:

Just took out on my street this morning.  It's like this every day.  Can't imagine why people keep moving here.  Alright, so I lied...this wasn't on my street.

Back to the question at hand, Stake, go check out Wash Park area.  Pearl Street Grill, Pub on Pearl, Wash Park Grill, Hemingways, The Border (yeah nevermind, TOTAL college dive bar - if that's what you're into).  Of all of those, PSG, WPG, and Hemingway's probably have the best food.  Be sure to get good directions, though, that area can be a  little confusing.  Enjoy!

Dan

That one is from my old 'hood, probably during that 2003 March storm.  People went on snow shoes to Argonaut's for cases of beer!

ah....  good times.

Me too.  I lived at 11th & Pearl when I first moved here.  Where were you?  Lived right by DU during that storm.  Crazy one that was.  I'm out at Parker & Arapahoe now.

I thought that looked familiar. I'm at 9th & Washington. That was a fun storm - it was just after I moved to Denver & we had 3 days off from work.

As for lessons I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem, and you'll get much better when you go skiing every weekend. Can't do that in HOT 'lanta.

Well crap.  I'm back in DC now.  But thanks for the advice- I expect to have another trip out there fairly soon.

Janelle- I loved it (what I saw of it).  I'm a big fan of wide open spaces and mountains, of which they have plenty of both.  Next time out there I want to try and include some free time to go exploring, but I could definitely see that as a place to live and train.

Besides me   I can't really say, because I didn't get too much time away from the hotel, but there was Denver Tourism conference going on there, with plenty of 20 something travel agents

Completely off topic, I wonder if 3 days at that altitude will have any impact on my 1/2 IM performance this weekend?
