If winds are anywhere out of the west, the whole leg back from Assateague is going to be "fun". Still, I'm excited to be going on my 5th Seagull! And I'll take the wind over rain or cold any day!

But perhaps we'll have some tailwinds going out the first 63 miles! That would be sweet!

I'm rider #2574, blue Felt S32 tri bike. Not sure what I'll be wearing yet, though. I've only seen the ponies a couple of times on that ride. But, then again, the one year it was pouring and a bit difficult at times to see anything.

I'll be there, too. #424, wearing a red Triple Bypass jersey. Latest forecast: cool, clear, low humidity, PR for first 100k to Assateague, happy ponies, then go nowhere riding into a gale for last 35 miles. Standard Seagull weather.

3rd time for me. Last year I did it as a TT workout. This year I'll be riding with a couple of friends who are doing it for the first time.

I love this event - great fun to be riding with ~8000 others. I also like the early morning drive out to the Eastern Shore, when every car on the Bay Bridge is carrying bikes.

5th Seagull for me and the 10th anniversary of the first time I did the Seagull as my very first century back in 2001. Lost count of how many I've done since.

Hope everyone has fun tomorrow no matter what! Really the main issues weather-wise on the ride are looking like a somewhat chilly start with a low around 50 degrees and the winds. Warms up quickly to 67 by 11 AM with a high around 70 by afternoon. So arm warmers to start, but those will be off later in the morning. Mostly sunny skies, no rain. You may still need sun protection.

Winds - generally out of the west at 10-20mph, gusting up into the 30s by afternoon! So, possibly some good tailwinds on the way out, but coming back from Assateague is going to test you for the last 37 miles as it will mostly be headwinds. Going to need that last rest stop at the VFW! And the beer when I'm done . I wasn't going to wear my aero helmet but I'm reconsidering that with the wind forecast. I won't be in any pacelines with my tri bike anyway unless I'm the one leading. So, I may want to try and keep as aero as possible here. Good tri bike training too!

Again, have fun all!

good times. I haven't ridden over 70 miles this year, since its a non-IM year and I'm just having fun. I'm all about the buffet stops.  My friends and I  will be in our FeXY gear.

Well, what a fun time!! However, this was one time when I wish my forecast hadn't been correct regarding the winds. Coming back from Assateague the nearly constant headwinds really wore folks down. You could just see this when folks stopped at the VFW rest stop as many folks were resting on the ground. Also, I saw people just stop on the side of the road during the last 17 miles too just to have a break.

As I hadn't done the ride in 4 years, I thought some of the changes they made were very positive and it was also different having different rest stops from years past. I kinda wished I had done the Snow Hill route instead, but I wanted to take pics for a friend who was going to do the Assateague route but couldn't so he could see what it was like. Another year perhaps.

I got a kick when going through the pedestrian tunnel with the recorded finishing message! It was like when an amusement ride was over and you hear the recorded message about welcoming you back and finishing the ride.

I've created an album with pics I took from the ride if anyone's interested. Again, despite the wind, super time!

Fun times indeed. And I'd take that wind over the rain any day.

Did the Snow Hill route this year for the first time.  It is not quite as due-West on the way back, so the wind (while still strong) was more crosswinds than headwinds.

The Snow Hill route also was not nearly as crowded as Assateague - which could be viewed as either a plus or a minus.
