Woo hoo Dana! Congrats! BTW our nearly 2 year old grandson is also named Levi.

Every time I see someone announce they are a new aunt, it reminds me of that old joke:

Neighbor: "I heard your sister is pregnant."
Blonde Woman: "Yes, but she's not sure if it's gonna be a girl or a boy, so I don't know if I'll be an Aunt or an Uncle."

Hey now--no blonde jokes... I might not understand them!! :-)

My little nephew, whose full name is Levi Cooper Lundblad, it turns out is having a hard time breathing. He's on oxygen and in one of those bubble things. I'm going to go see him (and everyone else) tomorrow. The doctors think he'll be fine. He just ingested a lot of meconium (fecally infused placenta, in case you were wondering) and they think it will clear up.

But he isn't getting to bond with mom and dad yet, and my sister-in-law is not yet allowed to nurse him.

Send me your best thoughts and prayers if you don't mind!!

how is Levi doing tonight?  Better I hope 

Thanks for asking, Ellen (and everyone).

I got to see the little trouper this morning. He is incredibly cute (and I'm COMPLETELY objective). We still can't hold him, and his mom can't nurse him, but we are trying to be as near him as we can.

The doctor says the best scenario is that he will be able to leave the oxygen 'tent' on Saturday, and perhaps the hospital by Monday. We all hope so. Mostly we all hope that mom and dad can hold Levi soon.

Despite the difficulty in breathing, he seems strong to us and vibrant! As weird as this may sound, he seems to respond appropriately to negative impulse (needle pricking, iv, losing his pacifier (since he can't nurse, I guess it's considered a bit of a training tool)) which is a very good sign--not passive at all! He's pretty quick to tell you that he doesn't like it!

He's the first baby in our family in over 30 years, so everyone is more than a little excited!!

All signs seem good...phew!!

Wow, what a rollercoaster thread!

Sounds like the little guy will pull through and be home where he belongs soon.

I just wanted to let you know that being an Aunt is the best thing! Enjoy it!

Congrats Dana!And from what I read it looks like you've got a real fighter on your hand. Yep, I can just see Levi now dousing a whole bottle of gatorade right after his Ironman! Get that kid a jersey quick! Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless! Ovetta.

Levi, you and your family are in my thougtht Dana. Be sure to let us know how he progresses.

Good news! Levi is out of the oxygen tent!! He is still on oxygen (through that nose-thing), but his mom has been able to hold him, and my brother is rushing over as I type and can't wait to get his hands on him!!

All seems well!! Thank you so much for your best wishes, all!

Doctor is optimistic that Levi might be released by Sunday morning.

I just learned that my older neice (the 11 year old) may be visiting the same weekend I do my first Tri - talk about pressure to be cool! But, as i am doing the Danskin that is Women only, I like showing her all us verbs, not adjectives! (someone in these threads referenced the dad of the "Dixie Chicks" sisters who said "no chear leading - I want you to be verbs not adjectives!"). Looking forward to this role of Auntness - showing her thousands of verbs! Then we go white water raftin - Aunt Mary has a reputation to protect!

Pray that I am still cool, please.....

Levi is a marvel--getting round and fat!! Isn't it nice that there is a time in our lives when that's a good thing??? I wanted very much to show a picture, but I can't seem to figure out a way to make it smaller...
