okey dokey.....I'm up.  Working on the 2nd cup of coffee.....halfway to human.

breakfast was packed last night and is ready to go.  Still need to do something about lunch.  Pool opens at 5:30 and I need to be on the road to school at 6:30.

It'll be a 750 yards swim and a 2 mile run later today, because that's what's on my schedule.

I can't imagine getting to the gym soooo early. I have tried a number of times for the 6:00 am pool opening, but find it difficult when I can't get my eyes open. I prefer to workout after work. Sooner or later I guess I'll need to shift some workouts to the mornings, but right now I can't imagine losing so much more sleep. My wife told me that during one of my late night catnaps (falling asleep while watching West Wing) that my snoring was almost non-existant. This is a big deal as I have been using a CPAP for the last 2 years, with my reduced weight I may be able to drop that and get some better sleep without being so fatigued during the day. I'm not sure if a HRM will show me how I am sleeping during the night but it is just another incentive to invest in one.

So far today I have had my morning bagel. To those of you who have already run, biked or swam, wow. I'll catch up later!

First race on Sunday so just a gentle 45 min run this morning to stretch out a bit. Last run before the big day.

Getting nervous already and can't imagine what I'll be like Saturday night!

The plan written down in my training log:

short swim -1 km only, at the request of my physical therapist
yoga
half an hour of ab work

BUT.... it's a beuatiful day, and I'd really like to get out on my bike. I may do some juggling of workouts to see what I can arrange.

I really can't comprehend being up at 3:30 AM!!!!!!! I went to be around 10:45 last night, which is quite early for me, and managed to wake up around 6:30 (getting up at about 6:45). Planning to run today if possible. It seems to be cool today so hopefully this afternoon will still be nice running weather. 4 miles is my goal!

Swim 1800 yards -- 1/2 for time, 1/2 with zoomers

Pilates 1 hour. Boy are my quads tight from this weekend. I thought I stretched enough after the race, but they are really short this AM.

An hour workout at the club. Going to put in a couple runs this week. I have a tri-club training weekend coming up that will include a pair of 50 mile bike rides on Saturday and Sunday, mixed in with a 10K run on Saturday and a swim workout on Sunday. Followed by a BBQ...the best part!

8 miles this morning in the rain at the local track. 2.5 mile warm up, 5X600m at 5k pace, the 2.5 mile cool down. Trying for the 600's at 2:51, hit them in 2:54, 2:46, 2:48, 2:47, and 2:45. Over all a pretty good workout considering the rain. Felt pretty easy. Only a few more track workouts until the marathon, need to make the most of them

Went to Senior's yoga this am (very easy class but a rowdy group of gray heads) then biked home 10 miles - stopped part way home and ran 13 min and 30 seconds on a dirt road. I ran 20 minutes a couple of weeks ago and my knees hurt so I bought different shoes and cut back my running time. So far so good!!

At the gym by 6:00. swam 2000 meters! Lifted Chest and biceps for 45 minutes. 30 minutes on the stationary bike to work out the soreness from Saturday's 25k trail race. In the mud. But that was a great race. For the first time in my life I came in not only in the upper half of the field, but in the upper third. Feelin' like a ROCK STAR today.

Biked 3M, swam 1250 yards. It's SUCH an awesome day here, I want to just be outside all day! Off to run some errands, and I'll do a 2.5M run this afternoon.

Yah-hoo! I made it through my first brick!!!!!!!!!!
I went to a spinning class for 45 minutes (working hard I might add) and then ran 2 miles. I took probably 5 minutes to stretch before running, started at an 11min mile pace and then worked to a 9:30min per mile pace (which for me is totally awesome). I ran 2 miles in 20:16...I am so psyched! I CAN DO THIS!!!!
My original goal was to finish a sprint triathlon. My revised goal was to finish in under 2 hours. My new and improved goal is to finish in 1:45.
I am smiling all day today!

Will do a mini-brick (bike/run) today, which will be my last workout to exceed 40 minutes.

30 min. bike -> 10 min. run

Ride today turned into an interval workout due to a nasty wind (and cold at that) from the west. 3 of us managed the 33km ride by drafting. Rode for 1:20....I'm spent!!
