Basically a rest day...I gotta get packed for my trip. I'm off to Ohio tomorrow morning for the Long Course Duathlon in Mansfield on Saturday. See everyone on Monday, I'll have a race report to post, hopefully with some good results!

good luck, max!

stitches are finally out, so i'm hoping to ride today (if it doesn't pour - otherwise i'll be on the trainer). it will be the first time in about 3 weeks! ugh. might run too if the weather permits since i have been doing a 5.6 mile loop that i really like. i'm way off my training schedule, so i'm trying to get back into it by doing stuff that feels good...and this week running has been feeling good.

I swam 10 x 50's followed by a 2 mile run at 9:11 pace. Hoping to swim 300-350 meters straight on Friday.

Silent, I feel for you- maybe someday you'll be able to get in the pool again.

I'm biking today - it might actually rain here, so I might be indoors.  Or I'll mountain bike, pulling the babe in the trailer.

I think I'm going to do upper body weights then 30 minutes on the bike machine at the gym and 35-40 minutes on the treadmill -- yup, a small brick.

Hi everyone,

swam this am, might be overtraining abit-- Last night did speed intervals, core work and weight lifting, I think I'll stop weight lifting for awhile, with the schedule I'm on, my time for lifting falls the day before my swim bike day, it doesn't seem to be enough recovery time between the weights and the swim -joe

I had some problems with my knee on my long run last week. This week I decided to do my usual Wednesday long run of 30 km but after 20 km I could feel my knee starting to give out. It didn't hurt a lot but it was enough that I decided to walk the last 10 km home. I gues I don't get a nap before work.

I'm scheduled for a 3 mile easy run today and swim class. I'm not sure if I'll do either. My hips are feeling a bit achey in a way that used to mean too much running. It may be that I haven't fully recovered from my race on Sat, and the bike isn't helping. I've been biking on my non-run days and I'm beginning to wonder if I need to give my legs another day off during the week.

As for swim class, it's the last class of the semester, but instead of swimming laps, we're supposed to play a game of water polo. I'm thinking if my legs are already in need of rest, treading water for an hour probably isn't ideal.

We'll see. I've got a long list of things to tackle during the day to prepare for our trip on Sat. Maybe I'll feel better this afternoon and get my run in anyway.

Have a great Wednesday, all!

Today it's my long work day. I got up ready to go on an early morning bike ride (25 miles) but it was thunderstorming. I'm going to the gym tonight to ride the trainer for at least 1 1/2 hours. I love the rain, but could do without the threat of lightning.

Katfan, I really don't miss the Kansas weather! I'm soooo spoiled by the so-called weather here in California.

Summers are so nice here, especially where I am (Sonoma County). It's hot, but not Kansas hot. And it's not humid at all. And the best part is... it doesn't rain a drop between May/June and Oct/Nov. That's why I call it "so-called weather". It's the same everyday with only a slight variation in the temps.

"Winter" here feels more like spring elsewhere. It rains and it's cool, but everything turns green. It took me several years to get used to it, having lived in Kansas and Michigan, where winters are WINTERS. I was used to marking the years by the snowy season. I think about 3 years passed by before I realized it because it just felt like we went from spring to summer to spring to summer...

Biked to work... 11.3 miles in a serious head wind tested my run tired legs and morning mental state! Turned around for 7.5 miles with the wind and the world suddenly turned brighter and calmer...

I followed my schedule today with a 100 minutes ride (30 miles, 18mph).

Later today I'm going to get in the pool and practice "pressing my bouy" to see how that works.

i ran a sponsered 10k run around the tower of london moat today - it was actually a jog so it wasn't timed or placed or anything. but i came second and timed myself at 41.13 (i stopped my watch every time i had to stop to have a lap card signed which was about 10 secs a time). I am pretty sure the distance was acurate (the organiser says it was), so if it was 10k then thats sort of an unofficial (i.e. it wasnt technically a 'race') personal best
