Long time BTrs will know Frank Aponte aka scuba-punk as one of the sweetest, most inspirational members of the BT family.

His wife, Jen, has been battling cancer over the past half year or so.

Frank lost his beloved Jen yesterday.

Frank is one of the reasons I latched on to this site well over a year ago. It still amazes me how someone you have never met in person could have such a positive affect on you. Frank is that kind of person.

The love that he and his wife Jen shared, as witnessed by his profound daily writing, is a deep sign of hope to me.

Oh, Frank.  I can't think of any way to tell you how sorry I am to hear about Jen.  Know that you have tons of people thinking of you.

Agree with Don about Frank's stature as a member here. Understandably, his presence here has diminished lately, but he was one of the first "friends" I added to my Other Blogs list, and remains there today. Angel and I have been following his and Jen's ordeal through his blog, and will continue to hold them in our prayers.

From Frank's blog in June (his non-BT one): "Also, if you would like to do "something" and you are able to, become a blood donor. Our community blood banks are always looking for people to donate whole blood and blood components such as platelets and plasma."

I'm going to go donate some blood as soon as I can (first I have to find out when I got my last tattoo, may have been less than a year), in Jen's honor. I think it would be nice if we could do a kind of BT blood drive. Those of us who are able and inclined to do so, anyway.

Frank is the reason I did a tri in the first place.  He inspired me on another board and introduced me to BT.  I agree don, it's amazing that someone I've never even met can feel like family.

My heart aches for him

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know what an emotional rollercoaster it's been for the past year or so.

Frank, nothing we can say can make this any better... but know we're all thinking about you..... take care of yourself....

Patti and I offer our condolences to Frank and his family as well.  And I also echo Don's sentiment about this place being more than just a bunch of faceless names, of people who don't know each other.  It's nice to keep in mind as we type our thoughts here that there is someone on the other end of those thoughts, people with lives and families of their own.

I read this and had to close my browser and go hug my kids.

Didn't really think it would come to this, I've been waiting for the "she's totally in remission" entry in his blog.

Condolences too, Frank.  The Jen you wrote about was to me a generous, open and loving person.  And I only knew of her during her late illness.  Thank you for sharing your exceptional love.  Peace to you and your family in this time of mourning.  And, as previous posts indicate, know that your caring for others is being returned to you ... .  You are all in my prayers.

Frank..when I first read about the loss of Jen...I was sad to my core and didn't know what to say. We'll keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I could tell by what your shared about Jen and your lives you had a very special relationship and love.

Frank,

I am so sorry to hear about Jen. I was checking your blog every few days waiting for the Jen is home post. You were one of the first people I added to my friends list over a year and a half ago and inspired me to think maybe I could Tri. You will be in mine and Krisy's prayers...

Our condolences as well.  An article by Frank was one of the first I read when I found BT and really turned me on to the site by its inspirational tone.  There is no way to repay that.  Thank you.

Like many others, Frank was one of the first people that I got to know on this site and he was one of the people that made this such an inspiring place to be. I am very saddened to hear of his loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family...
