...And I'm only 24! Last night I hung out at my friends' house and their kid and a friend were there playing. They got bored and wanted something else to do. The kid's father had just hooked back up an old Atari that was working after over 20 years, so the kid's mom said, "Go play Atari." The kid's friend said, "What is Atari?" Me, ever the video gaming buff from my childhood, was floored, "You don't know what Atari is?!" So I helped them get started and played a few games with them. Then, I found out the kids didn't know who the Smurfs or Popeye was...aaah! What has happened? How did I get "old" all of a sudden!

atari 5200.  several all nighters with that one.  defender, moon patrol were my favs. that system was awesome - games that you dont have to think for.  we sold it for the first nintendo...i wish i never did that.  i loved that atari.

what system do you have?  if your kids think its too arcane, I WILL BUY IT FROM U!!!

hehe...speaking of old, i will be 30 soon.  24!?!?  your young.

Now you guys are making me feel really old. I remember playing video games when the only game we had was tennis where there were 2 long lines and a dot for the ball. Now my kids play Xbox .

I don't have ANY of my old systems! And if I did still have them, I wouldn't be giving them up. Now we just have PS1, PS2, and a Dreamcast. I think my old Super Nintendo is still at my parents' house. However, in my lifetime I've had a Commodore #### (don't remember the numbers), a Coleco-Vision, and a Nintendo. My husband has had every other video gaming system ever made. Neither of us has ever had a desire to invest in an X-box, but now that an old time favorite Ninja Gaiden is on there, I sort of want to go to the "Dark Side."

Video games are indirectly responsible for my career (ha!) since one day I noticed that ALL my games said, "Made in Japan," on them, and I thought, "Japan HAS to be the coolest place EVER." I held onto that belief for the rest of my life, and here I am with a degree in the language and business, working for a Japanese corporation.

I saw a T-shirt the other day that said, "Know your roots," and it had a picture of a Nintendo controller. I'm going to try to find that shirt in a babydoll T online. If I can't, I'll just have to go MAKE one. I love retro gaming!

LOL, this thread cracks me up! I remember the Atari, had the 5200, but not the 2600. Old? Sheesh, I remember when we had black and white TV, with 4 channels and no remote. Highlight of the day was watching Howdy Doody and Pinky Lee. I guess that's why I spent 99% of my childhood playing outdoors!

I know, I know I'm not the oldest or anything. That's the irony--that I feel old for the first time in my life!

I think we all have these "a my gosh" moments when we realize that we are getting old. I remember sitting at a college football game behind a couple of college kids and listening to there conversation when it hit me that I felt really old. I too was only about 25 at the time, but I really felt ancient. Now I sit and watch "TV Land" on cable and force my kids to watch those "lame" old shows that Dad grew up with. However. unlike Max, at least most of these shows are in color.

I think BigBoy and I had the same video game system with the line hitting the ball back and forth!  I feel old because all of the fashions now were what I wore when I was little.  I get laughing when I see them in the stores, and the teenage store clerks think I am a moron because they have no idea just how funny ponchos, halter tops and platform shoes are.

I too remember black and white TV and ANTENNA's. Remember them? We thought we were high tech when we had one that could turn with the push of a button. And your right Max, I spent more time outside then. As a matter of fact, I was bike riding all over the place. Three speeds and we thought we were COOL.

I'm 25 and had one of my first "old moments" when I was in a store and saw them selling jelly shoes. JELLY SHOES?! Are we mid-20's people really old enough to have our lame 80's fashion recycled already? What's next - huge, icky bangs again?

I certainly hope so!  I am so tired of seeing everyone's midsection, butt, and underwear if they are even wearing any.  Talk about feeling old.....

You think your old? I've got one word for you -- "PONG".

Ron -- DEFENDER RULES! I used to pump quarters into that game every Friday night during my high school years.

I could possibly deal with the acid-washed jeans coming back as long as they're not tight-rolled. Whose idea was that anyway?

Ha Ha Sam...good one! You must be getting old and your eyesight must be failing....that 82 is your post count not your age!!!! Otherwise, I would think that tri training is actually the "fountain of youth", and BT has been keeping it a secret all this time. Come to think of it, tri training IS the fountain of youth, only the numbers we care about are not the numbers that get bigger, (age), but the numbers that get smaller (times for swim, T1, bike, T2, and run).

Have fun training and tri-ing you ol' foogie!!! You've gotta a lotta miles left in ya!!!

thanks Dolly. So are you going to come down to Bellingham for the Baker's Breakfast Cookie? You should! Bellingham isn't too far away from Vancouver, and you won't get to watch the pros duke it out for a spot on the olympic team for another 4 years. COME ON DOWN!

Thanks for the invite Sam... I'm planning on sticking with Sprints this year and will do an Oly or two next year for sure! Is the Baker's a yearly event? Maybe I will plan on it for my June event next year!
I used to travel to WA alot as a kid. My parents had property at Sudden Valley. We swam alot in Whatcom lake.

Good luck with the tri. Are you an Olympic hopeful??? Can't wait to read you RR!

I remember playing pong when I was a child.  I loved that game.  My old-feeling moment came when I showed my kids a picture of me as a ~4-year-old sitting at an old manual typewriter and they asked what that thing was that I was playing with.
