Subject: Weight Training while training for an Ironman Hi Everyone,
This is my first post.
I ran my first marathon last fall and ran a half marathon this past weekend. I can't say I necessarily love to run but training for a specific event is quite fun for me.
A triathlon is a completely unfamiliar territory for me but I'm interested in mixing up my training. I would like to train for an Olympic distance and possibly a half Ironman for next year.
I'm curious if most of you weight train while training for an Ironman. I currently lift 5 days a week along with running 5-6 times a week. I enjoy lifting weights so much, I wouldn't want to completely eliminate it out of my routine. I was figuring if I were to train for an Ironman, I could scale back my lifting to just the compound movements and only lift 3 times a week.
