I raced IMFL last year so I was curious about his swim results because I heard there were some blistering times last year. Evans cam in 3rd at 50:11....but he was way behind 1st place. The first guy out of the water completed the 2.4 mile swim in 44:36.

Sorry if I remembered it wrong, thought he was 2nd.  50 minutes is quite a fine time for a triathlete.  Maybe when he was swim-specific in college he could have been much faster.

Oh, I wasn't saying you were wrong. I was just amazed that a guy who swam 2.4 miles in 50 minutes, which is very fast, was beat by 5 1/2 minutes. The first place guy was apparently unbelievable. I was told a guy came out of the water in under 45 minutes, but I never checked it out until I saw this thread. I finished my swim in 1:19. The pros get a 10 minute head start in Florida and it is a 2 loop swim, so I am thinking this guy must have lapped me on his 2nd loop.

It will definitely be a challenge for the Hansoniator.

I'm in.  Registered last night.  You guys will probably be finished, showered and changed by the time I finish but I'm looking forward to it.  Nothing like going into a tri having only been in the pool about 3-4 times in the past 3 months, and swimming is my weakest event.  Looking forward to the bike/run at least.

possibly finished, showered and changed by the time you START!

I was emailing with the race director a couple of days ago and they are already 100 registrations over last year's.  So we will have a lot of company.

And the weather looks OK too.

I think I saw 61 as a low for Sunday morning. If so, it will feel great getting out of the water.

Wow, 100 more people racing?!? The race results from last year show 191, so that is a huge increase.

FYI, a couple of us were looking at the results from last year in order to see where we want to be this year. Someone said the results were a little tough to find so I will post the link here in case anyone is interested: http://trifind.net/triathlons/tennessee/ADP/results/2011.txt

Unfortunately we won't have direct time comparisons from last year.  The run course is shorter this year because of construction on campus.

I've heard 2 different things.  The run map sent out by the RD shows a course that's a quarter mile short of 5k.  And in an email with the RD she indicated that she's added some additional on to get it to 3.11, which isn't still the 3.14 it was.

Here's hoping it's close enough.

I think everything else is the same, including the transition location.

So I was almost 3 minutes behind that Hanson guy...Maybe it will be less this year.  Good luck Chris!  Break a leg!  (no not literally, that would be wrong.)

How early should I arrive for transition setup?  If registrations are up 50%, it could be a mess.  How large is the area?  I assume the transition area is large enough to accommodate this much growth.  Does the race director typically send our an email with pre-race directions prior to race day?

Early.  Last year it was first come first serve.  I did send them feedback directly about the race...specifically about transition.  As the race grows, they need a bigger spot.  The parking lot was very small and crowded.  I haven't seen the course map or the emails so I can't say if they addressed this issue.

Yet another question - is there adequate parking on campus near the transition area?  Personally, I don't care too terribly much about my spot in transition.  I'm likely back of the pack finisher and prefer to stay out of the more competitive people's way and give them the best spots.  I know some college campuses are a pain to park on without parking permits even when events are being held on campus.  I did the Middle Half Marathon there last fall and got there early enough for good parking but it was on outskirts of campus and the rec center looks to be middle of the campus.

How do you expect to finish an Ironman this year if you can't finish a local sprint?

Here's hoping you have a great race and no misfortunes like last year.

I'm in.  Does anyone have instructions from I-24 from Nashville (Franklin) on how to get there?  I mapquest'd the addy last year and I wound up in BFE, got a speeding ticket on the way there, and was almost late for the start.

I mapquest'd the addy again the other day and got the same directions.

Mapquest was your first mistake . Go to Google.com/maps. type in MTSU Health and Recreation Center, Murfreesboro TN and you'll be good to go.

There's several ways to get there. I would go this route which might be just slightly longer, but has fewer turns: From I-24 exit onto 840 towards Lebanon/Knoxville. Take the 1st exit off 840 (Murfreesboro/Smyrna) and go towards Murfreesboro. As you enter Murfreesboro turn left at the 2nd light onto Northfield Blvd (there is a Kroger shopping center at the corner and a Ford Dealership on the other corner). Follow Northfield for 4 or 5 miles. It will change names to Rutherford Blvd. as you cross over HWY 96. Rutherford will take you directly past the entrance of MTSU on the side of campus the Rec Center is located on. You can actually see the rec center as you turn onto campus. If you pass Greek Row you have gone too far.

Running 20 miles yesterday probably won't help tomorrow's race, but I had to do it for the CMM in a month.

I'll be wearing "FLUID" colors again this year and  T on my swimcap.  Say Hi if you recognize me.  Would enjoy meeting some of ya'll again.

Oooooooookay, pulled 7th in AG in this race last year.  Improved my finish time by 3 minutes this year, and was 9th in AG when I left (somewhat disgusted) today!

Whenver someone locates the final standings, post up the link.  I see the 2011 results on trifind.com.

Good race overall. The course was well-marked when I was on it.  However, they didn't start us numerically; kind of hit or miss as in, whenever you wanted to start.

Several pros there today.  One guy may blog about why are pros racing po-dunk Murfreesboro when it isn't a sanctioned USAT race.  They were finishing in 45 mins or less - nothing more than a light workout for them.  The guy that won my AG (45-49) finished in 50 mins.  Ahead of me was him, two 53's, a 54, a 56, a 58 and a 1:00:00 and one other.  I slid in at 1:03:xx.

Oh, and thanks Derek for the driving instructions and letting me in the bike rack beside you today!  Man was it crowded!

Also interested in a link to results.  The email the RD sent stated racedayevents.net.  I checked the site and it mostly lists East TN events and doesn't even mention ADPi.

This was just my second tri ever.  It started out very poorly with smacking my knee on the bottom of the pool on entry (I know stupid mistake).  Couldn't get comfortable in the pool at all.  Bike and run were fine (for me).  Course was marked pretty well except one intersection that had police support (about 3-4 of them) and ADPis (5 or more).  No one pointing the proper turn and cars all over the place.  One cop is just shouting "just go straight back to the Rec Center".  I don't know the campus at all (I know I should know the course).  It was just me and 2 other bikes at the time.  Someone finally pointed out the turn after all of us came to a stop.  Very disappointing.  Run was only 2.9 miles according to my Garmin.

Overall, fun event.  Seemed like it's growing too quickly and should possibly be capped.  I agree that the swim start was a disaster with so many people and little direction/coordination from the race staff.
