Total Time = 1h 48m 10s
Overall Rank = 15/70
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 3/7
Pre-race routine:

Small breakfast @ hotel (bagle w/ cream cheese & yogurt)
Event warmup:

I got in a short run and short ride and tried to stretch-out my stiff hamstrings and quads
Run
  • 34m 46s
  • 4.32 miles
  • 08m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

I kept a good pace overall. I might have been able to run just a touch faster, but that might have killed my bike so I think I did it right. The uphill was tough: everyone was at about a 10min/mile pace for the second mile.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Transition was FAST. The run ended in a chute that opened 10 meters from the racks, so I was on the bike really quick.
What would you do differently?:

for this set-up, nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 13m 24s

  • 17.98 mile/hr
Comments:

Freaking cold! I thought I was going to have frostbite on my shins and maybe my fingertips. As much fun as this was, I don't know that I'll do it again only because of the cold.
What would you do differently?:

Have my bike in an easier gear to start; focus on what the 'ef I'm doing (went off the road and still don't know how or why), and maybe dress a little warmer?
Transition 2

Post race
Warm down:

Warm-down wasn't a problem, it was staying warm that was tough

Event comments:

I think whoever was supposed to set-up the turn-around went too far, and having someone stand at the Start line and yell "Go" isn't very precise, but it worked out. The transition was awesome. The awards ceremony wasn't fancy in the least, but I was still shivering so I didn't much care.
