xfitkd - 2012-07-13 12:08 AM I'm jumping in ... 60lbs to lose - motivated and ready.  Being realistic and not expecting it to happen more than 2.5/week.  Anything more will be a bonus.  Goals this week -- (1) first road bike adventure Saturday  (2) purge the kitchen and bring in the good stuff - back to my E2 way of life Smile  then (3) have my training plan in place by Sunday and get rolling EARLY Monday morning - no excuses -- healthy is my new skinny. My Tri-Journey begins!

Welcome to BT and to Team Skinny!

BigShow - 2012-07-13 10:13 AM I'd like to be involved. I need accountability. Been doing really well lately on my training and fair on my diet. My wife and I concluded this morning that we undo all we've worked for in a day in just an hour or two after dinner. Help pull me through. I'll pull you in the future.

Welcome to the group, we are all here to help each other on this journey!

I've got calorie counter on my phone. I have never taken the time to use it. I'll get it under control and be posting some impressive numbers on here before you know it. Just have work to do.

Hope you all don't mind me hopping in. This is a great idea and exactly what I need. Congrats to everyone and there losses so far! I just started this past Sunday. I completed my first week of my running plan and I've been really good with my diet and water intake. SW 243 CW 238. (I always seem to drop weight fast my first week, prolly water weight) Weekends are tough for me, too much temptation and not as regimented as a week day. Wish me luck! But I have plans to grill a bunch of stuff to have ready for next week.

Okay honesty time again, since Ironman Texas in May I have slacked to no end. Well, the scale just told me to what extent. I am back to 224.2 and sick about it. So here we go again. Yell

Next big race will be Bone Island Tri Full Iron Distance in January that I want to see 185 on the scale or less. So time to get to work.

I finished my 1.2mile swim for our relay team in 47:02 - I even passed some people from the previous wave!  I'm pretty sure I was still last in my wave but oh well, I felt pretty ok about it.  I know I can do better but I think I gave it my best shot yesterday.

The relay results say we finished 9th out of 18 but I think it's wrong - out time was slower than a couple teams who placed after us so it's a little confusing.

This week I'm back to training and my next race is a solo (non-relay) Oly distance on 8/11.  Deep breath - this is a big step up in distance for me!!

Happy training this week!

Awesome job dsand97!  I agree with you.  From being a real big guy for around 15 years (over 300lbs) I know what it takes to get the job done.  Two years ago I lost 120 lbs in 8 months and have been able to keep almost all of it off ever since.  I went from 340 down to 220.  I currently am 240.  I weighed 235 at the start of my freshman year of HS...  Feels good to be in better shape at 38 then when I was 15!

Since losing the weight I have advised that it is the choices you make outside the gym that makes all the difference!  To exaggerate the issue, I always tell people who ask how I did it "it's 99% proper nutrition".  Let's face it, if you are eating right while trying to lose weight you are going to be putting in the time to work out as well.

Hola, Skinnies!

If only summer heat burnt up fat, I'd be down a gazillion pounds. Living in the 100's for multiple days and weeks here - sucks for outdoor training. I ran a 5K last night in 95 degree heat + humidity. (I did win Moe's gift certificates as a door prize - not so great for losing weight, but I NEVER win anything.)

Anyway, thought I'd say hi before I weigh in tomorrow. I'm actually tri-ing again and won't be disappearing anytime soon.

Meh.

Goal for end of July - any amount, however small, less than 180.

July 1    220   up a few pounds after a 2 week vacation.

July 11   218  Not exactly the start I wanted, I was hoping to get rid of the vaca pounds quicker!

July 18   217  I really need to stop working, long hours equals poor diet, no exercise and no sleep!

back on the wagon:

tracking food - no sneaking

3 miles on the treadmill

strength training (the YMCA has a great weight lifting program that I print out and follow)

swim team

Dinner tonight is an awesome salad and a great steak.

I can totally do this.

Great job everybody!

Yesterday I ran in the morning (week 2 workout 2) and then I took a class at the YMCA later that evening.  Had intentions of taking Spin, but I arrived on the wrong day.  It's tonight.

I stayed on nutrition plan, logged it in my "Lose it" app.  Oh... and finally pulled out and dusted off my Garmin watch I got for Christmas.  Will learn how to use it this week/weekend.
