" She reminded me I once gave a car to a guy in a homeless shelter. I always forget about that guy. He was walking to work every day"

The offers from the great folks on this board are your reward for doing right by others.  Proves my point that 99% of the people in this world are good people.  its only the 1% that people focus on.

I have a Terry Fly Ti saddle that I am not using and would be happy to donate to the cause.  It is in perfect shape, has a real leather cover and was only taken off my bike when I went to an Adamo.  PM me and I'll mail it out.  Hang in there bro...

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

I will be driving to pick up a bike tonight. There are bars, pedals, wheels and a saddle on their way to me from various others.

This is just amazing. I can't thank you all enough for the multiple offers. I think I could build a 5 bike fleet with what's been offered up.

I only have one thing to put up on the pay it forward thread in classifieds right now - a very large fuel belt. It is the largest they make, I think. I went to a camelbak and lost enough weight I don't think this will work for me any more. I want some new clyde to have it. After this season, I plan to need a smaller wetsuit, so my current one will go up in 2013. After that, I hope to be able to pass along some bike parts.

Glad to hear everything worked out for the better.

I would still file a police report about your bike and if you have home owners insurance - it should be covered too.

Reading through this thread is sureal.  I am amazed at the support BT'ers out there were so happy to offer, both emotionally and physically (bikes).

This is why I Tri.  This community is incredible.

Claaaw

Glad to see the BT group picked your spirits up and sorry for the recent troubles. The BT family is great.  I received pedals, seat and Tri books after posting I was on a tight budget after losing my job.  I had just started doing Triathlons with a bike off of craigslist.  I posted a picture of the bike and was floored by the response of the BT family in trying to help me out with my limited budget.  My wife asked why are these people you don't know sending you this equipment. The reason is we have some really cool and special people on BT.

Take care Claaaw.

TheClaaaw - 2012-08-20 8:01 PM This has been an amazing experience. I keep using that word, and it fits.I have had multiple offers in this thread and via pm for everything I need to replace Tenacious D. I love you all. I will pay this forward as much as I can, when I can. For now, the best I can do is offer to host a BT gathering at B2B. I'll post it in the NC forum and the B2B threads in the iron distance forum. I recently finally got a tritop from an advertiser here, Scudo. I had it printed with a doughboy theme. Tis way I can race in something more comfortable than a t-shirt over a tech shirt. Well now I think I should get a BT trip top. I had debated it before, since I want to be a good visual ad for something before wearing it. But now, I feel like I have a race sponsor, and it is the collective generosity of the BT community.

Well said.

I am VERY new to this and did my second race this past weekend. I can not believe the generosity of this group. I think I made the right choice in deciding to change my life and get healthy. If these are the kind of people that do this, these are the kind of people I want to be around.

God Bless you BT Community for helping out.

Doughboy has risen   Yayyyyyy - this thread makes me very sad and very happy all at the same time, BT absolutely rocks!  Doughboy - you've given so very much to the BT, triathlon and charity communities, you're an inspiration to us all, so it's nice to see that you're getting something back.  Sorry to hear about all your troubles, but I always find that training and racing helps get me through these tough times (running, which I normally hate, kept me sane when my Mum was rushed into ICU last year and it was touch and go for a couple of weeks), so keep it up, okay!

As the "dough" has risen, does that now mean we have to start calling you Pizzaboy, Breadboy, or Pastryboy???

On a comic note, I am pondering what the Phoenix relationship to doughboy would look like, thanks for that. That whole running keeping you sane during crisis, I am a new runner/triathlete, but I can relate. When I look back with some distance and see what was going on in my life in the months when I started running, there is clearly a connection.Anyway, I wanted to update this thead. Doughboy - The Claaw - Andrew

I don't know you, and I have yet to meet anyone from the BT community in person yet.  I haven't even done my first triathlon yet (it is a full 140.6 this Saturday) but I must say, that as I hit the hard miles of my first race, I will remember this thread, and the generosity of the community here on BT.

I have a feeling your triathlon journey is an inspiration to more than just Clydes.

I for one am inspired by you - your story - and the outpouring of support you received from the BT community.

I hope to meet you in the future, at some future event.  In my wildest dreams, I will be able to travel around to do triathlons...as for now - the budget keeps me close to home.

I wish you well in getting through this trying (pun intended) time in your life.  Keep up the good work, and good luck in your races.

Can't wait to read how great your next race (or run!) is going to feel after knowing you almost lost (or have up?) The sport. It's a great reminder that it's the perspective that matters. Use the experience as a motivator ... All of us.. And remember how lucky we are to do the sport we love with such supportive and compassionate people around us. Really glad things worked out!

I am so happy. It is you, master claw, who got me believing I could do this. Fatboy here who has just signed up for his first try, so if you couldn't do it, maybe neither could I. If you don't "fit in", I sure as hell don't. Thank you to all who have kept you on the road, and in turn kept my dream alive too.

This isn't the image you are really looking for, but when my brain combines a pheonix and the doughboy, all I keep coming up with is the end of Ghostbusters and a flaming Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man Laughing
