Total Time = 1h 18m 38s
Overall Rank = 233/499
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 26/40
Pre-race routine:

Woke up, made yogurt for ride downtown, showered, got dressed, drove downtown while eating, got race packet, numbered up, warmed up, emptied out 2x, and got ready to race!
Event warmup:

Jogging around downtown area and stretching lightly
Run
  • 1h 18m 38s
  • 9.32 miles
  • 08m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Started off at comfortable pace and just made my way past people. When we started heading up the small elevation gain I kept a steady pace and just worked my way past people. Started picking out targets 4-500 yards out in front and would just pace my way up to them. Made half way point and just kept working on maintaining effort here. Got to the downhill portion and effort really increased. My H/R was around 170 at this point and I just kept at it.
SPLITS AVG H/R
Mile 1: 8:55 148
Mile 2: 8:30 160
Mile 3: 8:36 158 (partial uphill portion so not concerned)
Mile 4: 8:42 160 (uphill portion so not concerned)
Mile 5: 8:22 161
Mile 6: 8:23 165
Mile 7: 8:30 167 (that is not good - lost 8-10 seconds here)
Mile 8: 8:02 169
Mile 9: 7:54 172
Finish .34: 7:39 pace 177
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - just keep increasing run fitness to either get faster or do these at a much easier effort - somehow I think I am going to work on getting faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed a water, banana, apple and chatted with some friends and drove home

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Being 176, not enough speed work, not enough mileage - I am not worried about any of these factors - just putting info in here!

Event comments:

DIdn't hang around for post-race but well organized

Nice work on a 15K, hard to pace those  but your pacing looks great!
