Day #10 - 3.38 miles nice and easy.

To be honest I'm surprised my legs don't hurt yet.

#64 - 2 easy.
#65 - 5 miles.
#66 - a little over 5 miles. Was a tempo run I did on the treadmill. Felt surprisingly better than expected.

Still in the air on the 10-20 half marathon. My runs longer than 6 have all been awful.

LB - congrats on being cleared. Looking forward to seeing you restart your streak.

#11 5.72 miles.  Got some new shoes today, felt good.  I was able to get a hold of a pair Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14's.

Good way to break them in to - in the pouring rain.  It actually was enjoyable, something about running thru the woods during the rain is awesome.

I have a love/hate relationship with running in the rain. I generally feel better, and run faster with less effort if it is raining. And there definitely is a euphoria associated with if it really starts to pour in ridiculous bucket amounts. There is something primal about it. That said, I really don't like the general feeling of being in wet clothes. I am not really particularly excited about going out running if it is already raining, and I also can say, without hesitation, that my least favorite weather to run in is cold or freezing rain.

#348- 10 mi. Almost 48 miles in last 4 days, my legs are starting to get tired.

Said it perfectly there, I would much rather have had it 50 and sunny.  What I'm trying to learn is just to embrace whatever mother nature throws at me.

Day 681, 2.1 early morning miles. Now off for New Hampshire and the New Hampshire marathon tomorrow and then a 2 hour drive to Maine and the Maine marathon on Sunday. My first set of doubles and the leaves should be very colorful up there this weekend. I am only shooting to do both marathons under 4 hours. They are both kind of hilly and I need to save some in the tank for Sunday.

As long as your foot is good, you will be fine, maybe even better since it forced you to do more of a taper than you would have probably chosen on your own. Have fun out there.

Lucky #13 - 11.88 miles.  Slow pace, think I went out a bit to fast yesterday.  First 10+ mile run in a while to.  Feel great though.

Day 60, 1.91 miles with a hangover headache. Breaking in two new pairs of shoes. Found out that Asics quit making the 2100 series shoes. So trying Kayanos and New Balance 1260s.

#351- 11.5 mi. 72 miles this week.

I considered going to 20 mi today, just to hit 80 mi, but I don't want to go into another 70+ mi week worn down, want to keep up with quality workouts, not just slog through the days and risk injury.

My wife did her last 20 mile run before starting her taper for her first marathon. She will be doing the MCM. I have not run it before, and am a bit jealous, but I am very very excited to spectate, give her support, watch the other runners, have a great day, and not be drop dead exhausted at the end.

I made it through the double in good shape, my foot is a little sore again but not as bad as after the Air Force marathon. Day 682, 26.32 miles in the New Hampshire marathon in 3:38:39 good enough for 28th overall out of 239 and 3rd in my age group out of 31 50-59 year old men. I could've ran it faster but held back some for the next day. It was a very hilly course too, almost 1500 foot elevation gain. After a shower and a beer it was off in the car for just over a two hour drive to Portland, Maine.

Day 683, 26.54 miles in the Maine marathon in 3:49:49 good enough for 278th out of 927, 18th out of 63 in my age group of 50-54 year old men but I could not have run this one much faster, I was really running out of gas after mile 21, I was holding a 8:32 pace up until then and fell of a bit the last 5 miles. 4 of them were over 9 minute miles but one was just under 9.

Day 684 1.25 miles today after finishing the drive home. It is about 650 miles one way and I drove about half of it last night. I could've ran farther today but only ran that far not because I was to sore but because the Pirates game was coming on and that is all the time I had to run before it started.

I have a half marathon this weekend if it is not cancelled due to the stupid government shutdown and then the Marine Corps marathon 2 weeks after that.

Thanks for all the encouraging words and support from everyone. It was a blast and I am looking forward to doing my first set of triples hopefully next year.

I will be there running the MCM as well. Hopefully we will cross paths sometime that day. I will be the guy with the red, white and blue beard with a bright yellow running shirt on the has Ron US Navy Retired on the front and you have just been geezered on the back. Good luck to your wife, does she have goal time in mind?

Great job on the mileage as well. I finds that when I am feeling a bit beat up a day of speed work may not start strong but it almost always finishes strong and I feel better for the next few days too.
