Saturday I entered and completed my first Sprint. As a celebration, on Sunday we ordered Pizza. After eating relatively well for 3  months I had forgotten how good pizza tastes, and also how bad it makes the body feel.

Im finishing mine at the end of this month.  I think I am going for Mexican food.  I am looking forward to it, but at the same time I am not.  I think Ill be okay if I can lay off eating too much chips and queso before the meal even comes.

I hear you.  I might have pizza about once a month, and that is because it takes about 30 days for me to forget how the pizza makes the body feel.

I don't have a problem with pizza.  I do have to limit how often I can eat it, because I love it, and I have a hard time with restraint, but it doesn't make me feel bad at all.  Now Mexican food on the other hand.  I make our pizza at home for the most part.  I like to roast different veggies and play around with different cheeses.  Sometimes I make my own crust but other times I just buy a pillsbury.  There are a number of foods out there that cause me great distress in the gut, but pizza isn't one of 'em.

I dont understand - pizza makes your body feel bad?  Do you have a gluten allergy?  Problem with acidic tomato sauce?  Lactose intolerance from cheese?  Perhaps greasy pepperoni topping?

For me, dough, olive oil, tomato sauce, cheese, and some green peppers and mushrooms seems reasonably healthy.

I never did figure out what was so bad about a lot of the foods that people condemn.

I don't get it either.  I have no issues with pizza.  I'm not fond of cheese, but a little of the bland cheese on pizza is generally fine.  I don't have a lactose issue, milk and ice cream is fine, but just not wild about the taste of most cheeses, especially cheedar (which is my wife's favorite cheese).

I have pizza at least once a week, often 2x. And sometimes more. I see no issue with it.

I can take a frozen pizza, add a bunch of fresh veggies, and a bit more cheese, maybe some turkey pepperoni or some such, and eat the whole thing. (Yes, one pizza=1 serving)

Last night, I had CPK's Roasted Chipotle Veggie pizza...I added even more roasted peppers (from the garden), a bunch of onion, asparagus, and mushrooms, tossed on a bit of chicken breast, and some crumbled queso fresco. It was stellar. So stellar, I make make another one tonight :p

I never thought of doing that, duh. That is a great idea. Thank you for that.

I love Pizza, I eat it at least 2 times a week. Pizza will also help get me through IMFL, free pizza at the finish!

Interesting pizza makes some of you feel bad. In the last year or so of training I have noticed one food that consistently results in better performance the next morning, PIZZA!!! I am serious, every time I eat pizza the next morning I feel like I could just keep running/biking/swimming forever. My best training times consistently come the morning after eating pizza. I have every intention of gorging myself on pizza this friday before running a sprint saturday morning. I get chicken, mushroom, and basil pizza (that and a guinness). I don't get anything like extra cheese or pepperoni cause I don't want a bunch of grease. I don't know if it's all the carbs or the extra sodium or what.

Best part is, it's pretty much my favorite food. I could eat pizza 3-4 times a week if the wifey would let me.

Nothing wrong with Pizza as long as you eat it in moderation.  My marathon PR was Pizza Fueled the night before.

Really? I ran 22 miles on Sunday and then ate an entire pizza, and it felt pretty amazing.

Depending on your dietary needs, ingredients like wheat/gluten, excess cheese, greasy pepperoni/sausage, etc. could definitely make you feel bad. But if it makes us feel bad why are we still eating it??

Personally I make a grain-free crust out of almond meal/tapioca starch/eggs, and top with homemade pesto, roma tomatoes and a little fresh mozzarella cheese. I feel great after eating it

I agree.  Some of my best workouts have been the morning after pizza. Just don't over do it.
