...have finally been announced, and the winner is Milwaukee.

http://www.usatriathlon.org/news/articles/2012/11/112012-2013-agnc.aspx

It sounds like the course will practically be in front of our relatives' house, so I guess I'll have to race.

Ummmm, well now I don't have to worry about going to that race for the next two years.  Glad I did Burlington, that was an incredible venue.

I believe registration opens in January.

ETA:  I don't know how fast it sells out, but that's one of the advantages of qualifying through a late season race this year.  You can't registered unless you've already qualified.

You don't think Milwaukee will be a good venue?  My wife and I rode there in 2003 for Harley Davidson's 100th Anniversary, which was centered on the Summerfest Grounds where the race is supposed to be centered, and it was a fantastic city and experience.

I'm sure as hell not going to spend $2K+ to travel to Mil. when I can go somewhere else much more desirable for the same price or less, like San Diego... Get serious, Mil. isn't a "destination" to spend your $ on.  If I wanted to go to Worlds, sure, I'd go cause I'd have to.  But I don't care so not gonna do it.  Be curious if enrollment is the same as Burlinton.  May be close but I doubt as solid.  Sold out oly like Burlington?  I'd be surprised.

For the record I qual. for Alabama in 2010 and didn't do that one and it's 2 hours away.  That was an even worse location choice.

When the Sprint Tri worlds Qualifier was here in the Quad Cities our race sold out before a lot of our local people even knew registration was open.  I'd be amazed if this didn't sell out.

Wow. Kind of a strong response to what I thought was a simple question. I'll probably regret asking this, but have you ever been to Milwaukee?

I don't know much about Milwaukee, never been there, but I know two people who's jobs have taken them all over the US and they both say they'd move back to Milwaukee before any of the others. Not that this makes Milwaukee a tourist destination but it surprised me given the other places they've been (Scottsdale, Portland, Southern Cal, Charlotte, Orlando, Philly). Not that I'll qualify but if I did I'd probably do Chicago for a few days, maybe check out Madison and Milwaukee for the race weekend.

I'm excited!  Through triathlon and other races, we're trying to take our kids to as many different places as possible, not just the "pretty" ones.  Each city has it's own beauty; we like to explore and find it!  Plus, it's only a 7 hour drive for us as opposed to VT which was 12!  I, for one, am thrilled!

Qualification is not an issue. Proximity is. And Milwaukee is a doable drive , as opposed to VT. Milwaukee has positives and negatives (like most cities). I know nothing of the race course. I think it will be fun to go

It was always my understanding that anyone can race in the sprint portion of nationals, there is no qualifier.

I am excited also, born and raised in Milwaukee and cannot wait to see if what I did this summer qualified me.  Why would you not want to go somewhere with Harley-Davidson and beer?  If you don't want to go, fine, but it really is a very cool city.  And, I will have somewhere to stay, 'cause my dad still lives around there!  I am counting on it selling out, for sure.

If you're talking about this:  http://www.usatriathlon.org/events/regional-championships.aspx

Those are mostly for 2012.  The full list of regional championships and special qualifiers for 2013 has not been announced yet:

Milwaukee is a wonderful city. I've been there many times and have met so many nice, caring, wonderful people.

Maybe it's best you don't go. With an attitude like that, I don't think you'd fit in.

Milwaukee is a great place! I was hoping for something a little closer to me -- that's too far to travel for an Oly for me -- but I can't imagine saying it isn't a great location for it.

Have to second that - I suspect we wouldn't really want to share space with you at any race, be it WI or San Diego. Thankfully you 'don't care' about going to worlds, cuz if you did, you might be really surly. Although how Burlington makes your list of acceptable cities while Wisconsin does make me almost curious enough to want to be at a race with you despite your pretentious attitude. almost
