Love me a Thanksgiving day race

Turkey Chase 10K in 49:48 -- thrilled to break 50m on a hilly/ gravely/ trail-y course

my husband and toddler did the 5K and came in second in the "stroller division" -- won a free oil change

Share your race !

Started the C25K program in September (or therabouts). This is my second race. 34:50, and 25/80 in my age group. I'll take it. Laughing

Good job on the < 50 Trishie! I'd like to do the Turkey Chase some year, but I seem to always be injured at turkey time.

This morning I did a 5k in Laurel, MD with my 10-year old daughter. She out-sprinted me at the end in 34:33. I literally didn't have the turn of pace to keep up with her when she went for it at the end. We finished in 378th and 379th. Bonding over a post-race cocoa was good.

Did a 5k with my 14 y/o brother in law.  Finished in 47:45, which is actually much better than last year.  It has become an annual tradition, and we're hoping to get better each year. He wants to aim for 40 minutes next year, so now I just need to convince him he needs to train just a bit to make that happen.

Did a nice quiet race, just me and 3200+ others!

Glad to see so many out there, always amazed at how many walkers start at the front.

Did a 5 mile one with my son who is up visiting from college.  Great turn out and the first time in a few years that there wasn't a ton of snow!

Happy Thanksgiving all!

The local Turkey Trot in 2010 is what got me started in running - although I had 3 days' notice that I was going to do it, and didn't train for it, and didn't run again until end of April 2011, but that Turkey Trot kinda started it all.

This was my third Turkey Trot, a 3 mile race with costumes and strollers and dogs and kids and costumes. I PR'd at 26:03 and can't help but think of how many seconds I could have shaved if I didn't have to retie my shoelaces!

Gobblegobble, Happy Thanksgiving!

Did the local 10K Turkey Trot.  6200 registrants for the 15K, 10K and 5K distances this morning!  Great crowd, beautiful day, and a 10K PR (41:17) too.

[I did the MultiRace.com Inaugural Turkey Triathlon/Duathlon at Tradewinds Park, Coconut Creek, Florida today and had a blast.

There were bout 250 triathletes and 116 duathletes there today.  It was like 55-60F this morning when I got up at 4am, but the water was warmer than the air and the sun topped the trees in a cloudless sky just as we started the swim. The road was cool and dry for the ride with no crashes that I saw.  The run was cool and tranquil through the trees and round the course up to the crowd at the finish.  Lots of food and smiling faces and another well run race by MultiRace.  I'm thankful I was able to do this.]

No run for me today. I did get to swim with a kids swim team this morning at 8 am. Was a bit cool but I had fun getting beat by 12 year olds. I had to put my fins on to try and keep up!

I did the  Skinny Turkey Half Marathon  in Raleigh NC today. It was my second stand alone half marathon. PR... by seven minutes!  What a fantastic day. It was one of those races that reminds you why you train so hard. New found motivation Big Time!  Happy Thanksgiving athletes everywhere.

North Texas Turkey Trot 5k and 10K with about 4,000 others on a beautiful morning here! PR'd my 10k by a little over 3 minutes at 46:49. Very happy with that coming off a stress fracture and 6 weeks of no running.

Walked a 5K today with my 3 year old in a stroller, which allowed my wife to kick some a$$ in the race.  Considering how many times she has watched the kids while I've been racing this year, I was more than happy to do it.

I'm thankful to my wife for all she does to support me (and yes, she is looking over my shoulder).

Some friends organized a local 5k.  Somewhat unofficial this year, but planning on starting earlier with planning next year and make it an annual event.  Going to call it "Got the trots?" Thanksgiving day run.  We only had about 15 people show up this year, but it's a great course and we expect it will grow.  I spent the better part of 2012 injured and all of June part of July in a waling boot for a stress fracture.  So I was happy to run/walk it in 29 mins.

Dallas Turkey Trot 5K w/the daughter.  Trying to talk her into the 8miler; she keeps responding with something about not enough time to train due to stuff like class, tests, etc.

I went to a boot camp type workout put on by my tri coach, does that count?  We had a run up 3 flights of outside stairs at a high school, then a little run, then back, back down the stairs, then a circuit, 90 seconds per exercise, then 60 seconds until the next one started, then the stairs/run again, then 60 secs per station, 30 seconds until the next one, lasted 58 minutes   Since it was outside my Garmin recorded distance travelled, 2.54 miles, almost a 5K   Told my coach the distance and the end and she said you almost did the Turkey Trot lol

The stations were rows with TRX, can't think of the name but "push-ups" with the TRX, sprinting down a stretch back and forth, up and down stairs, push ups, throw heavy ball up from squatting position, shot put of weighed ball, jumprope, frog jumps (squat jump forward), and walking lunges.
