Subject: Taint lasering?

Just saw the other thread and had to post. Apologies for those who get ill from reading this.

I'm a moderately hairy dude. I shave nothing right now. Second season of tri, having issues in the taint area despite dousing myself with various antichafe products. Not true saddle sores, a little farther forward. I think hairiness has something to do with it. Want to remove, but don't want to shave as it would logistically a nightmare/ingrowns. A friend of mine does laser hair removal, could get done on the cheap. Any guys ever do this? if so, was the humiliation worth it? What about depilatory creams?

And since you're all wondering - ladies, yes, I am available.

Just replying so I can see the replies.

Also, I would just trim it down with clippers first before going to laser removal.

I had laser hair removal done on my legs a few years ago. It makes doing sports a whole lot easier. While I didn't go there, I am sure the laser hair technicians have done and seen it all. I will warn you it is painful and I imagine that the sensitive area would hurt a lot. In fact if you could stand it I would say you are very manly . I don't think it's a terrible idea. The combination of being pretty hairy and wearing spandex means you are probably in for a a lot of ingrown hairs which are painful and can get infected. You would probably be better off removing the hair, I am sure. Good luck!

Fortunately, the friend has an employee who I'll never see again (hopefully) who does it.

I can take the pain, I hope. Just as long as I don't hear any horror stories involving skin grafts or accidental castration, I'm OK. Mainly curious about results, but I'm sure there are not a lot of guys who have lined up for this procedure.

I'm a girl, but here's my opinion anyway...  I had laser hair removal on my legs, armpits, and bikini area (just brought in the sides, didn't go down to the taint area).  There is some pain involved, but with such a small area I don't think you'd have any problem.  And the pain is only during the procedure, it doesn't linger.  You will have to shave (not wax) before each lasering.  If there is hair in the way it's more painful and doesn't work as well (but you do need hair in the roots to target, that's why you can't wax).  You'll need multiple sessions, like 10 or 12, but you will see results even after the first.

I've had some laser hair removal and I'd do my whole freak'n body if I could afford it.  It's great!  The pain described feels sort of like being snapped with a rubber band with each laser pulse.  Not that big a deal and no long-lasting discomfort.  I was given a topical anesthetic cream to apply first - although I didn't think it really helped.  Someone mentioned 10-12 sessions - I'm sure it differs for everyone depending on hair color and type, but sometimes it takes only a few sessions (2-5).

I would not want to get snapped with a rubber band anywhere near my taint!

Spare youself the money and keep your pride; just use clippers. I am a hairy dude. This plus body glide works for me.Just be careful, there's a lot of sensitive areas. Treat it like the board game, 'Operation.'After admitting this publicly, I hope to never meet you people in real life.

It is not comfortable by any stretch but it is not excruciating either. A good technician can minimize the pain as well. I have never needed the topical anesthetic but it should be applied about a half hour in advance. You must shave first and you really want to shave well. The first few treatments is where you will see a dramatic reduction in the amount of hair and that may be enough for you unless you want to go completely "bald". As for the embarrassment factor that is up to you. As a woman once you have had your first child you get kind of used to the "exposed" feeling but we all know men are much bigger babies when it comes to their "junk" than women.

Laser hair removal is worth every penny.  If you can find a place with the Candela GMP (Gentle Max Pro) it seriously doesn't hurt AT ALL.  And I'm not joking.  Night and day from lasers they used early on in my laser hair removal days....

I go with Veet on the undercarraige and it has never caused any irritation. It is WAY better riding hairless down there for sure though...

My wife used to work at a clinic that did laser hair removal. The newer systems are nearly pain free. The older systems, lets say I had visions of hornets with metal jaws upon my skin.

So the thought of shaving without cutting yourself, applying a cream, getting prepared for this procedure which I would imagine would include some sort of ball strap (correct terminology?  Dunno, never had to do this) to hold the boys back from the effects of gravity, exposing neverland, then getting a laser fired at the substructure just sounds awesome

Then repeating that another 10 times - oh, what a lifetime experience to relate to the grandkids.

I am not going to comment on shaving at all but I am going to try to help solve your issue.

Very small adjustments in your saddle (height, angle, forward/backward) can make a huge difference in "issues in your taint area."

I was having a lot of issues last season with saddle sores. I switched saddles near then end of the season with good results. I have ridden 3-5 days/week on the trainer all winter without a single sore. About 10 days ago I very subtly changed the angle of my saddle. Within two rides I had developed two new saddle sores. Needless to say, I changed the saddle back toward the prior position and with three additional rides done I am having no issues at all.

Really. Just a millimeter or two of change can make a huge difference.

Everybodys skin type and hair type is different however I just razor it up.  Gold Bond works wonders in preventing in growns in that it helps to keep pores open.
