Pro 5011 Twin Cities | Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... SpottedCow - 2013-03-14 10:02 PM I was on a few episodes of Animal Planet's "Emergency Vets" in 1999-2000, as a newly graduated intern. I still have my 3-legged dog (now 13.5 years old) whose thoracic limb amputation as a puppy was televised on one of the episodes. If people bring this up, I like to tell them..."I'm not really a veterinarian, I just played one on TV" The production company once flew me & my dog back to Denver to film a follow-up when he was an adult. Thankfully it's been so long that people rarely ask me about it any longer, but I do have a copy of that amputation episode on VHS I LOVED that show!! |

Member 432 Calgary, AB | Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... When I was in business school, I was the go-to student that the Career Services team used for media opportunities. (Probably because I was one of the few people graduating in 2003 who managed to find a good job) As a result, I got interviewed for a segment on CNN, as well as videotaped doing a mock job interview. I also got quoted in the Financial Post in a story about the tough MBA job market. When I was in high school, I also got hit up for a man-on-the-street interview in Toronto -- the topic, as I recall, was Eric Lindros' refusal to play for the Quebec Nordiques. Given that neither the player nor the team exists in the NHL anymore, I guess that dates me...

Veteran 2842 Austin, Texas | Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... Made ABC news once after we had a fire in the house caused by a floor refinishing company. Just damage, but a week after there was a fire in Hull that killed a few people (same cause), so the investigative journalism team stopped by and shoved a mic in my face. Lots of locals saw it... Caught a foul ball a few years back (JD Drew at bat) at a Red Sox/Indians game in Cleveland. Early season, COLD (so I had gloves on - thankfully) and behind home plate to the left. He tipped it back, came screaming over the net, I exercised my full 6" vertical leap and one handed it. Landed, turned to my then 8 year old (now 12) Red Sox nut of a son and handed him the ball. HUGE smiles and cheers all around. Got a LOT of congrats on the way out of the park and subsequently. As for robbery or the like, never convicted - and that's all I count.

Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... Yes, on the local news a few months after we adopted our son. They were doing a piece on adoption options, agencies etc. I really didn't want to do it but it wasn't that bad. Funny, I forgot all about it. I bet my son would enjoy watching it but all we have is a VHS copy and we don't own a tape player anymore. |

First time I ever drank a Perrier water. btw: Manilow was kinda a DB. 2) While stationed in Turkey, a friend of mine was filming a story for the Armed Forces Network. As she is talking into the camera I can be seen having a horrific endo, bike wreck. Broke arm, cuts, scrapes etc. She included this little 'mishap' in the finished version of the televised segment see across the European Theater.

Extreme Veteran 787 The Woodlands/Magnolia, TX. | Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... not TV, but back in high school a friends dad got us into a video that played on the jumbotron at the Astrodome during all the houston astro's home games. it was a short little clip that showed proper fielding, batting, sliding, etc technique in betweeen innings. we each got a little segment. we thought we were hot $hit at the time. when i was a little whipper-snapper i was behind a reporter at at some event and i was waiving my arms around and jumping up and down. i remember the camera man waiving at me to stop and move, but i kept at it. several people my parent knew saw it b/c it was on the evening news. i'm most proud of the second one.

Iowaman - 2013-03-15 12:36 AM In 1997 I was on the TV show COPS and actually got in a pursuit that left Iowa and went into Illinois and back into Iowa. We caught the guys and all of the pursuit and takedown was shown on FOX. I have the tape and still watch once in a while. So I'll preface this by stating I like watching Cops, but always wonder why, when the suspect is laying prone on the ground, with his arms behind his head, fully compliant, some officers feel compelled to bring their full weight down on the guy with a knee to the back of the neck. Seems a tad excessive, and at times just seems to be done out of anger and in a vindictive manner. I can get it with a suspect who is resisting and fighting, but when he's just laying there doing nothing and is surrounded by officers? |

Master 8247 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... Yes, I have been on TV, but (to my knowledge) not in my own country and generally not in my own language. In China, our school head was an amateur actor and often helped any interested staff get TV roles or advertising gigs on weekends or holidays for extra money. I played (in Chinese) the mother of a young boy in a few epidsodes of a TV sit-com. (My character was an academic who runs all over China, leaving her "son" in the care of a nanny, who's a famous Chinese comic actress.) At one point I was offered the female lead in one of China's most popular sit-coms at the time, but turned it down as the hours were incompatible with teaching. I've also appeared on talk shows about education and social issues, and been interviewed on Guizhou Provincial TV about bilingual education in the US and China. I've recorded several real-estate ads (in English) for what I call "Ex-pat Villas on Airport Road" in Beijing. At the time, I was earning about $1500 a month and living in Chinese public housing! Weird but true.....these gigs are pretty easy to get, esp. for foreigners who speak fluent Chinese. |

Expert 1830 | Subject: RE: Have You Ever.... On TV once - actually a regionally broadcast college basketball game between Colorado State, and Wyoming back in the 80s. Wyoming had Fennis Dembo playing, and were kind of a big deal. I had basketball hat on, complete with eye holes, that said "Hi Mom" on the top. The hat and the liquid courage made for some decent photo ops. Mom was so proud!! |

Yep thats right, that guy that says, "now lets go to the board and see where we are, and now over to our wonderful volunteers working the phones". Also, many radio interviews, and most recently an interview on the Senior TV Network as a participant and the VP of the Board of Directors for the Nevada Senior Olympics here in Las Vegas. During the 1999-2000 playoffs I was changing out the sticks on the home bench and the players started coming back out. As he walked by, Mike Keene hits me square in the nuts. Right behind him Marty Turco hits me in the face with his goalie glove. All caught on camera as ABC came back on air......needless to say, I received some phone calls. Have you ever met a girl that you tried to date, but a year to make love she wanted you to wait? let me tell you a story of my situation, I was talkin to this girl from the U S Nation... What!?!? That is amazing...!!! |

It was one of those shots they show late in the race to show how much all the AG-ers are suffering. I think the voice-over was something like, “By this time, all the age-groupers are thinking is, ‘finish line, finish line, finish line’”. I had an injured calf and was dragging my sorry butt through the last few miles of the run course. It was awesome. Luckily, no one I know recognized me, or if they did, they never mentioned it. |
