Subject: RE: Yoga recommendations (DVDs, podcasts, etc...) I just started doing yoga about three weeks ago. Not sure if it's the yoga or my current running streak, but I've been markedly faster over the last 10 days or so. As a total cheapskate, I've been doing routines I find on youtube and on demand from my cable box. Here are some that I like.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IlzyuRQwsc- Injury Prevention for Runners - 20 minutes - She also has a pre-run and post-run routine that I like almost as much.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlgDPA9o21A- Part of a training package for the SeaWheeze half marathon - 35 minutes - I've done a couple of the other SeaWheeze yoga videos and they are good too, but this is one I really like.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7YChJ8yyMI- Yoga for Athletes - 27 minutes - This one's pretty hard. I bail on a number of his poses, and I don't do the sequence where he balances on his head.
I've tried out a few others, but most of them I wouldn't go back to. I really only care about the stretching and the breathing, and I tend to tune out when there is too much talk about chakras and third eyes and my spirit. I'd appreciate other suggestions if people have them. Nothing but running has left me lacking in flexibility and upper body strength. |
