Member 161 Shawnee, KS | Subject: St. Louis 5150 | Post Race Hey gang happy to report I finished my FIRST Tri! It was Awesome! Since this is my first race I really have no benchmark, but from my perspective this was a great venue and a great course. Hillier than I expected, but with cool temps and moderate wind it was about perfect for me. While David and I never connected while at the race I did see him as I was finishing my run and he was starting his. I can't wait to see his race report and see what he thought of the event and course. Here are my results by the numbers: Overall - 119/259 SexPl - 84/150 M45-49 - 8/16 7/16 Swim Div (10:21...2:05 Pace) Goal = 10-12 min 9/16 Bike Div (57:26...16.7 Avg) Goal = 18 mph Avg 11/16 Run Div (30:21...9:48 Pace) Goal = sub 10:00 Pace Overall Goal to finish in under 1:45. My official finish time = 1:41:37 Thanks to all of you for helping me along and giving me great advice! Member 228 Lenexa, KS | Subject: RE: St. Louis 5150 | Post Race Congrats on your first finish. Albeit tough, the Innsbrook locale is an excellent course. Rarely do you get freshly paved roads for a bike course aside from possibly a National size race. I haven't written my blog post about the race yet so I'll edit and post that in here when I'm done (still gathering race photos and such). Overall 8/509 (I count this at 15/509+age elite since I would have been racing Age group elite if I didn't need a qualifying time for AG Nationals) Age Group 1/13 Sex/Place 8/323 Times were Swim: 26:00 (1:44/100, bah) Bike: 1:10:04 (21.2 mph) Run: 38:16 (6:11 min/mile) Sorely disappointed with my swim time. Not sure what's up with it as my pace ended up close to my warmup pace in the pool and I didn't really believe I was off course almost at all during the swim. Oh well, back to training and onto the next race. In response to DPRocket in the other 5150 thread, yeah I had to win my age group to qualify for AG Nationals so the age group win by like 19 seconds was definitely vindication for training, but still lots of work to be done in the next month and a half so I can make top 100 at AG Nationals this year (was 288 last year). |

Veteran 1127 Shawnee | Subject: RE: St. Louis 5150 | Post Race I finally got my race report done. Overall, this is a great venue and race. I will definitely be back! I always spend a day or two beating myself after races. However, I had a great time and gave it my best. I'm in for the long haul (even though I tell my wife immediately after every race that I'm finished)! Mark...no chip seal to speak of. Much of it felt like it was a salt flat. It was awesome! |

Member 228 Lenexa, KS | Subject: RE: St. Louis 5150 | Post Race You guys have me googling "chip seal" as I ponder what a potato based marine mammal would be doing at a race. Ha, yeah the surface was great on the roads. |

Member 228 Lenexa, KS | Subject: RE: St. Louis 5150 | Post Race Well it's apparently too late to go back and edit my original post. But I've finally finished my post-race blog post for anyone interested in me chronicling the journey. http://www.jessefunk.com/i-am-a-triathlete-st-louis-5150-race-in-re... |
